[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tested this jacket during everyday wear, biking, and an Intro to Bouldering class at a local park. I’m 5'2" wearing a medium, and the fit is a little roomy on me, but I actually prefer that because I can layer a sweater underneath without restricting movement. The jacket stayed comfortable while walking, biking, and climbing, and I had plenty of freedom through my shoulders and arms. For its weight, it’s surprisingly warm and handled wind really well. I also liked the hood fit. It stayed secure on my head without feeling too tight. During a bike ride in roughly 65°F weather as the temperature was dropping, it felt breathable at first, but once I got hot and sweaty it did start to trap some heat. I’d rate the breathability around 7/10. Packability is one of the strongest features for me. It compresses down easily, feels very lightweight to carry, and doesn’t take up much space when I’m not wearing it. The hand pockets are well placed and have a soft lining that feels great in colder weather, though they are a little tight for my iPhone 14 Pro. So far, the construction feels solid, and I haven’t noticed any issues with the fabric, zippers, seams, or cuffs. I haven’t had enough wet-weather use yet to comment confidently on rain protection, but for cool, windy conditions and active outdoor use, it has performed very well. I’d recommend this jacket to someone looking for a lightweight insulated layer that is warm, easy to pack, and flexible enough for hiking, climbing, commuting, and general fall outdoor use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dear Mother Nature, please make the weather colder so I can wear this jacket every day! :) The Women’s StretchDown Light Hooded Jacket from Mountain Hardwear is insanely comfortable, relaxed in all the right ways, and yet trim and fashionable at the same time. I’m 5’7”, 130 lbs, and a small fits me perfectly. I’m immediately comfortable wearing this, and can easily fit multiple base layers underneath, and a shell over the top. The boxy cropped style that Mountain Hardwear has been channeling for some time works really well with this jacket, as it hits the sweet spot between ensuring full coverage and avoiding unnecessary length and bulk. Mobility is excellent. So far I’ve taken this jacket on alpine scrambles up to 13,000’, with temperatures dipping into the high 20s on the ridge line. This jacket did well with a single base layer underneath during steady aerobic activity with temps in the 30s and windy conditions — any warmer and the jacket is likely overkill for continuous energy output. While at work or in town, the jacket is comfortable up to much higher temps, and can handle the thermal regulation due to what I think is pretty good breathability for the type of product. This jacket packs down well and can easily be thrown into a backpack during shoulder season conditions. The material is pleasantly durable and handled rocky scuffs while scrambling with ease. Based on the overall shape and fit, the front pockets aren’t ideal for carrying something heavy, like a phone. They’re functional and spacious, but heavy items won’t cling to your body so they may feel a bit awkward. Not really an issue for me as I usually prefer to keep my phone elsewhere. Features I really love include the roominess of the hood and its elastic binding, the chin guard at the top of the zipper, the generous sleeve length, and the identifiable baffles that elicit complements from strangers and friends alike. I am reviewing this for my wife ... She loves this jacket! When I purchased it for her, I was wondering just how much of our Chicago winter it would weather for her (pun intended). And, really, she wears it all the time in all levels of cold. It is the perfect jacket for layering; she fits thick sweaters or other tops beneath it all the time. This has become a go-to standard for her, and I imagine that it will also be perfect for cool springtimes and bitter autumns. I noticed that some other reviewer commented on the noise that this jacket makes when walking/moving about. HUH!?!? The only sound I can comment on is the sound that any winter jacket like this makes. Please don't worry about the sound when you purchase this awesome, kick-butt jacket!

I loooove the look of this jacket. I wanted a black down hoodie for spring that is a little more stylish than my more technical down jackets. It has a super cute silhouette with a wide cropped fit-- best for outings around the town. I tried wearing it on a spring ski day and it was not the best. It isn't fitted to the body and doesn't zip snuggly around the neck, so it let in cold air. It also doesn't have a breast pocket which is find to be the biggest downside.

i bought it for ice skating on the rink. its pockets are roomy, so i can put my phone and earbuds in it and sit in the rest area for watching tutorials. also, it is warm and also not a thick layer, quite suitable for wearing it during exercises on the rink.

Very comfortable and light weight! Only critique is it ran slightly big for me. I am 5'3"/135lbs athletic build and ordered a small. I could have gotten a x-small but don't mind having it be a little bigger so I could layer underneath even.

This was a gift to my partner. She finds it a wonderful warm, soft jacket. The extra length adds to how effectively it keeps the body warm. It would be better if the chest pockets were on the outside like they are in the men's version.

Great layering jacket. the fit allows you to wear something underneath, so with a warm base layer, the jacket is good around freezing temps while being a lite weight option.

Kept me warm and dry during a light rain at a fall music festival. The cuffs and hem close snugly to keep out the elements and it packs down small for carrying convenience.
