Absolutely LOVE it! So comfortable, not tight, lightweight. Great jacket!

I've loved this warm jacket for 2 years now - perfect for frigid Wisconsin winters and hiking, cross-country skiing & outdoor activities. It's lightweight and I love the flexibility in the shoulders. Unfortunately, I recently had a run-in with some thorny branches, and the fabric suffered small punctures/small tears. I repaired the holes with clear stick-on patches, but they still leaked feathers, so I ended up stitching it, so it is now my "Frankenstein jacket". I still love this jacket but will watch for a sale to eventually replace it. Consider wearing a sturdy shell on top to protect it from tears if you're going to do any backcountry skiing.

This coat was perfect!! Wanted something for snowshoeing and winter walking/ hiking. I’m 5’8” , 155 - I ordered the large and it’s roomy enough for a later or two under. I could have ordered a medium and it would have for more snuggly. I would love it if these came in brighter colors. I got two- the purple and blue. They are both muted - being outdoors in winter, I’d prefer brighter colors :). Obviously I like this coat as I got two !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. The more I wear this stretchdown jacket, the more I like it. This jacket performed well in the autumn season under cooler temps (50 F). It felt very lightweight and comfortable against my skin while keeping my body temperature balanced. The hood stayed on my head while moving and I appreciated the chest pocket which has insulation to keep my phone from getting too cold in harsher temps. The only feature I would add are thumb loops. I enjoyed the packability of this jacket. I travel a lot for work and this jacket easily condensed down to fit in my carry on. Overall, my impression of this jacket is that it is versatile in cooler and cold temperatures, it’s very comparable for portability, and the texture is smooth and seamless. It is a great choice for camping, hiking, and traveling.

[Employee of mountainhardwear] If you've been skeptical of the ghost whisperer or micro-ratio not being warm enough for you, but the ratio and kelvinator are too much down - this is a great mid-weight option. One of the things that isn't in the tech specs is how the stretch knit fabric instantly warms to your body temperature when you put it on. The 4-way stretch will be your best friend climbing or in any other activity that uses a full range of shoulder motion. Since it is a knit fabric it will be less water resistant than a traditional woven fabric. It will resist light rain, but anything heavier or for long intervals will require a shell.

I'm a climber on the Front Range of Colorado and I need gear that can keep up with rapidly changing weather conditions. I'm a medium and this puffy fits true to size with a bit of room for layering. They added a bottom zipper to this most recent version of the Stretchdown Hoody, which is a great improvement that allows access to a belay device on cold mornings at the crag. The 700 fill is nice and warm without being suffocating, and the big puffy hood fits over a helmet. The Stretchdown material allows full range of motion with no constriction around the underarms when you reach across your body. Good for belaying, camping, walking your dog, whatever!

I got this jacket last year to replace another stretchy down mountain hardware jacket I had. The one I had previously was a size medium and it fit with room to spare so I got this one in medium and this one fits very differently. It's a much more fitted fit. I can barely zip it with just a long sleeve base layer on under it. I actually wish I got size XL instead of a medium. But my size for most other jackets and shirts is medium. It does fit under my waterproof shell jacket though and the other one would not do that. It is also very warm and I love the stretch and the freedom of movement that it gives me but I don't like how tight it fits in the chest and arms.

My favorite part of this jacket might be the two-way zipper. I know that seems like such a minor detail, but it's a real clutch detail for me. I can use this feature to make the bottom opening of the jacket a little wider to make it more comfortable (since my hips are wider than my shoulders). And I can also use it to create a bit of a vent to keep me from overheating while still keeping it zipped closed at the top. Aside from that feature, I do love so much else about this jacket. The soft lining on the pockets is a nice touch and the overall warmth of the jacket is great. The pockets are generously sized, including the chest pocket. It's lightweight, but keeps me warm on chilly days.

Flattering cut! Fitted yet very roomy! I am 5’3” athletic 130lbs build. Excellent arm length and sleeves are wide enough to wear layers without restricting mobility. Pockets are awesome, they actually fit my iPhone 6 Plus with room to spare for my gloves. Incredibly warm for how light weight it is. I live in the snow belt area of Northern lower peninsula in Michigan and we not only get snow but temps below zero temps. I love the matte black color and material. I finally found a down jacket that is flattering, keeps me warm, and does not look like I am wearing a garbage bag! I highly recommend it.

Love this jacket - it’s warm, comfortable, and a good length for my long torso and width for my broad shoulders (I got the XS, and I’m 5’4”, 120lbs, athletic build). The stretch is wonderful, and I love the fit! It will be put to good use in my day-to-day, as well as in the backcountry! Rated four stars because the material (at least for the fiery red color) is somewhat see-through so you can see the feathers through the jacket, which makes it look weird/dirty. Also, I wish the hood had a draw cord, and I’m not crazy about the chunky plastic main zipper - the teeth are big, so it often catches my braid near the collar. All not dealbreakers, but if I had paid full price, I might have returned it.
