Arc'teryx  Aerios 35 Pack

The Aerios 35 is not a particularly good nor particularly bad pack. I've used it now on 2 different trips: 1) Approx 75km in varied weather in Denmark and 2) Approx 225km in modern but dry conditions in Portugal. Like another user, I also use this pack in lieu of my Bora for the lighter, faster trips. Overall it performs well and is indeed quite comfortable. I can recommend this product however like many of Arc'teryx more recent products, inflated pricing and questionable design choices suggest they've moved farther and farther away from the (in my opinion better) choices of the past. The pricing has remained somewhat consistent over the years but the products, not so much. While you can do a whole lot worse, you probably can do a whole lot better as well.

I have done over 500km of fastpacking with this pack and it has worked out great. Everything from overnighters to 5 day epics. The ability to synch it down when not fully loaded has allowed me to run in it carrying 20L~ but having the support needed for a heavier loads. When fully loaded at 35L I still found it comfortable and had the ability to hike fast and even run in it. Easy access to water and snacks up front eliminate the need for unnecessary stops and allow you to travel fast all day.

I love this backpack. I can comfortably use ~42L with the roll top, not including outside pockets. The side pockets provide more generous space, easily enough for me to fit 2 1L water bottles on one side and my tent, poles & stakes on the other. I am not nice to this backpack at all, and besides a few dirt stains it looks like new. Super adjustable and all around solid to carry. I am 5’9 using size SHORT. I also believe Arc’teryx is a little off with the weight as mine came in at 30.4oz w/ the frame.

I have not yet used, but I am extremely happy with my purchase. The molded frame nicely fits the curve of my back. I gather from online research that there has been a change to the materials used for the frame. Maybe that explains why my size small pack weighs only 1 lb 15 oz vs the advertized 2 lbs 9 oz. At the frame, the pack measures both narrower (9" at the hip and 11" at the shoulder) and longer (19.5") than the typical limit for stowing under the airplane seat. This pack will typically fit under the seat while protruding out slightly more than allowed. If storing under the seat is a problem, I like that the frame can be removed and stored inside my carry-on luggage. I like that the hip belt can be removed and the cords on the front of the pack be tightened to turn the pack into a reduced volume daypack. I can also imagine turning this pack into a tote by storing the velcro attached shoulder straps where the hip belt attaches. I found online guidance on how to measure the pack's torso length. By this method the pack measured smaller than the specified torso range. I believe that the contoured frame accounts for this difference by bringing the load lifter strap frame attachments closer to my back and shortening the length of the load lifter straps.

Overall a great pack. Lightweight and water-resistant materials make it a great choice for inclement weather hiking. Easily enough capacity to get you through any day hike and an overnight. Great side pockets that I use for a large water bottle and a lightweight chair. Good support and ventilation to keep your back from being drenched in sweat. Only thing I'd change is to make the front zipper waterproof. Love the hydration vest style pockets.

Likes: durable water sheeting material (PNW), enough volume and quick stash side pockets for winter or when the dog is along, close fitting vest for scrambles and runs, daisy chains, adjustable. Dislikes: no bladder clip, meh sized hip pocket, I think the extended roll top is overkill considering the weight limits.

Awesome back pack and exactly as I expected! Just the right amount of space! Love the mesh between the pack and my back reducing the build up of sweat! Material on this pack is great as well! Love how the shoulder and waist straps are customizable! Great job on this one Arc’Teryx

you might wonder how can a backpack cost this much but then you realize you need instructions when you get it. definitely the apple of equipment.
