La Sportiva  Ultra Raptor 3 GTX Hiking Shoes - Men's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the La Sportiva Ultra Raptor 3 GTX shoes for free in exchange for my honest review. I’ve been wearing them for the past two weeks on hikes and other outdoor excursions, including a fishing trip today. They handled the rocks, hills, and wet terrain down by the water really well, and I came home with dry feet. They’re extremely comfortable and feel secure and stable without my feet slipping around inside. My feet didn’t hurt after being out in them, they’ve held up great so far, and they look fantastic. I genuinely didn’t want to take them off. I definitely recommend them and can’t wait to wear them again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wore the La Sportiva Ultra Raptor 3 GTX on a wet, rocky trail last weekend, and the Gore-Tex lining kept my socks dry through every creek crossing. The sticky FriXion sole grabbed slick rock on the steep descent, and the low-cut design felt light and quick, closer to a trail runner than a hiking boot.

These shoes run small, requiring upsizing one full size. They feel snug and secure, instilling a sense of stability and protection. The toe box size is just right. After many miles of breaking them in and hiking in Yosemite, I can attest to their excellent grip (both dry and wet granite), but the heel is so narrow and rigid that I ended up with sore heels and a blister. Also, the inner membrane on the top of one shoe separated from the outer gore-tex fabric, touching the top of the foot with every step, unlike the other shoe (not a big deal but annoying due to asymmetric feel). All in all - could have been a fantastic shoe but ruined by poor heel design. Bummed.

I live in Colorado, and once the season turns, the trails get spotty with snow, slush, and mud. I wanted a low-cut shoe with real grip, and the Ultra Raptor 3 GTX looks like it will handle that. The traction feels confident on loose dirt and uneven ground, and I expect it to hold up when the trail gets slick. The Gore-Tex lining is what I was after, since wet feet make a cold hike miserable. They're lighter than a full boot, so I can move quickly without my feet feeling weighed down, and the cushioning is comfortable over longer miles. The upper looks tough enough for rock and brush. I'll be putting them through snow and mud all season, and so far they've given me a lot of confidence heading into it. I'd recommend them to anyone hiking Colorado trails as the weather changes.

Haven’t had a chance to put them through the wringer yet, but I’ve worn La Sportiva hiking shoes for years always in a size 42. But the toe box in these is short and had to go up a full size to a 43.

The cushioning, traction, and support really stand out, especially when I’m putting them to work. They perform great on different terrain and have quickly become one of my go to shoes for everyday wear and outdoor adventures. For sizing, I’d recommend going up a full size from your usual shoe size for the best fit.

As my home crags are in the rainy East coast, I love the numerous GTX (GORTEX lined) hiking and trail shoe options. The Ultra Raptor has been a favorite of mine since it first appeared (a decade ago?)….and the Ultra Raptor 3 GTX continues the legacy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wearing them for about 3 wks now and I have zero complaints. They are comfortable out the box, not too tight on the toes, good grip. My new go to hiking boots. I also really like the toe protection.

Light, not too stiff, super grippy, waterproof and so comfortable! Bought them for the Austrian Alps, put them on without any breaking in, and loved’em!
