I bought two of these chairs for about $100 each, expecting the usual REI-level durability. Unfortunately, they only lasted around three years before the fabric tore at the support corners — right where the seat connects to the frame. That failure basically makes the chair unusable. REI does sell replacement seats for other Flexlite models, but not for this one, which is disappointing considering the price. For $100, I expected a product that could survive more than a few seasons of regular camping. Bottom line: Not recommended. Comfortable while it lasts, but short lifespan and lack of repair options make it a poor value.
The following applies to all Rei Flexlite camp chairs; when left alone, they can be taken by the wind. The first time using mine, it was blown into a fire after being away for a single minute. The frame is good and intact, but the canvas seat was melted pretty good, no longer functional. Turns out, they don't offer a replacement seat for the Flexlite Dreamer, and I was told by an online REI assistant that I'd have to buy an entirely new chair. I'm surprised I'm unable to purchase merely a new seat. I literally just bought your chair. I'm not asking for a free replacement. I believe I'm being reasonable. That said, I'm disappointed in REI's lack of customer support.
We had to replace our camping chairs and decided to invest in something a little stronger than the cheap chairs we had - we are pleased with our purchase. We find them sturdy and comfortable and we like the travel bags. I find the fabric a tight fit, it is a bit difficult for me to stretch the chair onto the poles; I hope that when the fabric stretches a bit it after several more uses that it gets a bit easier. I would recommend this product, but if anyone has any sort of arm/shoulder weakness or injury might have an issue putting this together. (Maybe try it in person in a store first.)
This chair is so good! Lightweight, fairly easy to assemble and very comfy! I liked my first one so much, I bought a second. Great for camping, the backyard, shows and even your house if you run out of seating!
The chair is made with quality and comfort but not a good fit for me because of the high back. I prefer the regular flexlite chairs.
