packs small and dries quickly
This product packs super small, which is nice, even though it was the largest towel of its kind. It dried super-fast- could hang it in the Jeep with windows closed and it dried super-fast. It was large enough for a 6'4" man (who is pretty lean), and in a normal camping environment with a light breeze, it seemed to be dry in an hour. This product will definitely replace my MSR camp towel, which is way bulkier but yet has a smaller footprint. The fabric is weird and takes a bit of getting used to. It is so light that it feels like it's going to tear, but it's sturdy enough. I almost like the pocket towel fabric better, but like the lightness of the airlight. It's certainly a trade-off.
Good, depending on priority
VERY light weight, which is what I was looking for, but the consequence is that there's just not enough "stuff" to soak up water. This is not any defect on the part of the towel - it's just the compromise between weight and function. I have the "hand size" which was inadequate to dry a post-swim body + medium length hair. Wringing to enable further drying was pretty ineffective. I would still purchase this - just need to lower my expectations for what a "UL" towel can accomplish. Bonus - it really IS light/thin enough to use as a sun-protecting scarf or head-wrap.
Great for fitting inside super small travel kits
Packs smaller than the inflatable Aeros pillow, can easily fit inside any toiletries travel kit, is a little smaller than the same size Drylite towel, and very light weight. The first couple times I felt like I had to wring it out half way but it seems to get better with use and after a wash/dry cycle. Since it's somewhat "sticky" when you try to dry it's hard to pat yourself dry like a regular towel, I think the strategy is to let it roll and ball up to dry yourself off. Then wring it at the end to increase the already fast dry time. Normally I don't bring a towel camping, unless I am car camping or just traveling and will be taking showers. This is great for a carry on bag, and then a drylite towel in checked luggage when you get to your destination.
Lightweight compact utility towel
This became my favorite camp towel for handy jobs, like drying off my tent fly. It dries with a squeeze, and absorbs so much water that it quickly takes care of jobs. It is super light and compact, so I could keep it with my cooking kit and never notice any extra bulk or weight. The texture is fine for these purposes, especially as it was basically a hand towel, so the thinness and clingy feel didn’t interfere with its function.
Awesome Little Towel!
Awesome pocket towel, super light, soft fabric, dries super quick and I love the bonus pouch that’s included with it, you can use it as a hanger for your towel. I have both the medium size and the extra large. Im 5’11, weight about 190 and the medium size is perfect. The extra large you can use to wrap around you but then again, im assuming you are looking at this for camping and if weight is a concern, go with medium.
Teeny tiny lightweight quickdry towel
Upgraded from a large 8oz quickdry towel to this 1oz towel. I tested it after a shower before going on the trip, and it worked as expected. It will easily dry you off after 2-3 wring-outs, but it struggles drying out your hair. The texture of the material will take a little getting used to, but it certainly works. Great for drying off equipment or after a quick dip. Great purchase, and great to decrease overall weight.
Job Well Done
This is my first ultralight quickdry towel so I didn't bring it into my life with any comparisons. I'm not a huge fan of the odd tactile feel of the material, but I think that's just the nature of the beast. It's also certainly not as absorbent as a normal fluffy towel. I tried to twist my long hair up in it like I usually do and it didn't dry my hair much. Again, this might just be par for the course.
Pad too large (sea to summit gear is amazing)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Item was way to big for backpacking. I ordered the ether lite xt extreme. I will probably end up with a Nemo tensor extreme. Sea to summit is great equipment and I have tons of their equipment that is great quality and use it regularly. This pad however was far too large for my backpacking needs. Love the 4" thickness and would be perfect for side sleeper but just too big.
The Perfect Backpacking Beach Towel!
I bought the hand towel size (great for wiping faces and washing hands) and the larger size. I ended up really loving the larger size on our last trip, because there was an unexpected swimming hole and it made the perfect size to lay on top of my foam sleeping mat and relax in the shade while having a moisture wicking layer underneath me! Dries so fast and packs so small!
Great towel!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This towel is perfect for backpacking and hiking - it's lightweight, takes up no space in your bag, and dries quickly. Something that is not ideal is if you are staying somewhere that you need to cover yourself up with the towel, it is quite small, so it works for quick changes and not needing much towel! I love it though and would recommend it.
