poor tread

I’ve loved these shoes since I bought them. So comfortable and needed no breaking in. However, when they say trail running they mean flat gravel trail. These do not have sturdy vibram soles and they have worn smooth very quickly which I discovered today coming down a mountainous trail, not running, and slipped. And then continued to slip which caused me to look at my tread which was smooth foam and was completely worn down. I would go so far as to say these are dangerous. I have not had them long and sadly, I won’t buy another pair. Really disappointment because the comfort is next level. They do make a good running shoe if you’re planning to run gravel road or flat trail.

Kept me comfy on the Camino de Santiago

Walked the last 111km of the Camino de Santiago in these. I tried 4 other pairs before I found these, and I'm so glad I found them. Super comfortable, wide enough in the toe box that they stayed comfy the whole way. Zero blisters or hot spots even though they were the only shoes I wore every day. Recommend.

Ultra Shoe

I have been using the North Face 500 & 300s for training on road, trails, and treadmill. The 500s have more cushion than the 300 which help during an ultra if you do a shoe change mid race. Your feet get a break. They work well in very technical terrain, steep, lose gravel/dirt. No blisters for me in the 300s or 500s, I wear a Rnnr Sock in with these.

For easy, buffed out trails

This shoe is cushioned with a nice fitting upper. However, I find the outsole to be a disappointment in anything but dry conditions. This shoe doesn't grip well on wet rock or wood, and that severely limits its usefulness. while it has deep lugs, you might think it would perform well, but the outsole rubber is not as good as Vibram or Asicsgrip. Because of the high stack height, it has made me roll my ankles much more than is normal for me.

Love These Shoes

North Face shoes are my favorite shoes. They fit me better than any of the other brand I've tried. The Altamesa is beautifully designed and I love the colors. They make my feet very happy.

Great shoe

This trail shoe is super comfortable. Since getting them a few weeks ago I have done several 10+ mile runs on a mix of technical trails to roads and they have been very comfortable.
