Super breathable!
These are super supportive all around, and feel sturdy in the sole, while the top mesh feels flexible enough that my feet are not constricted in movement. Love the zig zag strap. It is NOT stretchy, though, which is fine for me but some might want to know that. My only issue is that the mesh is a little too see through. Don’t like having my toes out so while it’s technically not so exposed, you can still clearly see the outline. Minor issue really. The back of my heel does not feel scratched up, and there is little break in period needed, Can’t wait til the weather warms up so I can wear these out more!
Miss the old Mary Jane shoe
I had a previous style of Merrell Mary Janes and absolutely loved them! I was hoping this pair would be equally as good but was rather disappointed. :( The metal rings, where the crossover band with the Velcro goes through, hurts the sides of my feet. I have to wear socks to give some padding so it’s less painful. Trying to get the band at the right length to keep my feet in place without those metal rings digging in is tricky. Aside from that, it has fairly good cushioning (but again, not as good as the previous make) and breath ability to keep my feet from overheating. The old Mary Janes that I wore out were perfect! The Velcro strap straight across the foot worked incredibly well with no metal rings and I didn’t need socks for them. So disappointed that the style has changed. I would have bought a second pair if I knew Merrell wasn’t going to continue them.
