Beautifully constructed but not very functional

I was really excited for this product due to the rave reviews but was really disappointed and frustrated by it. It recently took this pack on a 2-week trip, 4 days of which were for a hut-to-hut hike. Because it was hut-to-hut, I didn't have many items to carry. My filled pack, which still had room to spare, weighed just ~15 pounds but caused immense back and shoulder strain after wearing it for less than an hour at the airport. I carefully reviewed the fit guide and instructions, did the measurements as instructed with the help of another person, and made numerous adjustments with the shoulder straps, hip belt, back height etc., but could just never find a combination that felt comfortable. It might just not be the right fit for my body. I'm straight-sized and do not have particularly large hips. Pros Beautiful durable fabric. Looks and feels good to the touch. It still looks really pretty new and clean after use. Citron is a gorgeous color. Back never felt hot and sweaty so circulation was pretty good. The side pockets are great for easy access. The compression straps were a nice touch and perfect for accommodating different items that I prioritized during different parts of a trip that included varying terrain from mountains, oceans, and cities. The secret pocket and full-length side zippers were great for security and convenient access. Cons This pack really made the journey more difficult. The padding on the back is really light in comparison to other packs. I looked jealously at my partner's pack which was nicely padded and had wider hip belts. The hip belt and shoulder straps are both, thin, narrow, and lightly padded. They do not really help with weight transfer and distribution. The edges on the shoulder straps also made constant contact with my arms and dug into my sides. No amount of adjustment of the shoulder or chest straps could fix this problem. The edges are made from the same fabric as the main pack, so while durable, it was not comfortable for skin contact. I also tried changing the back sizing. Based on my measurements, I was a small, but because it was so uncomfortable, I played around with XS, S, M, and L. I still had the same problems across all sizes. All in all, the weight distribution of the pack felt extremely minimal and nearly nonexistent. The shoulder strap pockets seemed like a great idea, but they're so small and there's no stretch at all. Regular-sized sunglasses can just barely fit and if you button up the compartment, it's too tight and you risk damaging your sunglasses. The hip pockets are too far to the side for comfortable access during the trail. They're also really small and aren't very secure. They're just completely wide open. Even if they're not zippered, they should at least have a top and bottom half with some stretch to ensure that things don't fall off. The top handle is a flimsy thin rope that is extremely uncomfortable to hold if the pack is not empty. I really wanted to like this pack because of the color, fabric, and unique shape that made it attractive but it is just so extremely uncomfortable. It seems they prioritized form over function. I will definitely be returning.
