[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently had the opportunity to field test the Jetboil TrailCook 1.2L, and it quickly proved itself to be a substantial improvement over earlier Jetboil systems I’ve used. The first thing I noticed was stability. Compared to my first-generation Jetboil Personal Cooking System, the TrailCook balances significantly better on the fuel canister. With the included tripod support, the base becomes extremely solid. When cooking in camp there is often a concern that someone might accidentally bump a stove and knock it over. With the TrailCook’s wider, sturdier footprint, that concern essentially disappears. The system feels secure and confidence-inspiring even when the pot is full. The pot design is another well-executed improvement. The locking handle keeps everything tightly secured during transport, doubles as a sturdy cooking handle, and can be removed entirely when you want the extra space for something like a large morning coffee. When packed away, the handle locks the components down so the entire system stays compact and organized. The 1.2-liter pot nests efficiently, and all components fit neatly inside. Jetboil also included a dedicated storage bag for the burner, which prevents the metal components from scratching or wearing down the inside of the pot during transport. Ignition is another area where the TrailCook stands out. The integrated igniter functions much like a household gas stove. Instead of turning on the gas and lighting it manually with a lighter..resulting in a sudden puff of flame… the ignition system lights the burner instantly and safely. It is a simple addition, but it significantly improves ease of use and safety in the field. Performance is excellent. The burner offers a genuinely adjustable flame, allowing you to move from a full rolling boil down to a controlled simmer. That makes a real difference when cooking actual food rather than just boiling water. I was able to heat stew without scorching it and cook ramen faster than on my kitchen stove at home. In testing, the system reached a rolling boil in approximately 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Cleanup is stupid simple, everything rinses and wipes clean with little effort and nothing sticks to the pot. I’m so glad for this, because I absolutely hate wasting water to clean something stuck on. The lid design is very practical. It allows you to pour or strain contents easily and simply rests on the pot instead of snapping into place. Love it! That means no more struggling with a tight lid while the pot is hot. The translucent material also allows you to see inside, which makes it easy to monitor when water is approaching a boil. Jetboil has greatly improved the bottom bowl. It is noticeably sturdier than earlier models and removes easily. It handles hot liquids and food without flexing or deforming, which adds to the overall durability of the system. Fuel efficiency remains one of JetBoil’s strongest advantages, and the TrailCook continues that tradition. During testing, I expected to finish off the remainder of a nearly empty canister on the first boil, but after two meals and a coffee there was still fuel left. From past experience, that efficiency is consistent. During a six-month deployment to Africa, I used a Jetboil three times per day for dehydrated meals and only went through two fuel canisters the entire time. Overall, the TrailCook 1.2L represents a thoughtful evolution of the Jetboil platform. It maintains the speed and efficiency the brand is known for, while adding stability, better cooking control, and improved packability. For anyone who wants a compact backcountry stove capable of more than simply boiling water, the TrailCook is an excellent option. I’m extremely happy with it and would confidently recommend the TrailCook 1.2L to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile camp cooking system. Jetboil gave me this free product to try. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jetboil gave me this free product to try. I couldn’t wait to get out and start using the Jetboil Trailcook 1.2L as soon as it was delivered. After years of backpacking, car camping, hunting and putting other cooking systems (including older models of Jetboil stoves) to the test I had a new stove designed for cooking and not just heating up water for a meal in a bag. Sure, you can do that with this stove but it excels at so much more. There’s a lot to cover with this stove, so many exciting new features that make this stove a pleasure for any outdoor activity. Featured that I really keyed in on were the ceramic coated pot, the removable handle, and the ability to truly adjust your flame. Let’s start with the ceramic coated pot. Ceramic being non stick means you really don’t need to use oil to cook. I tested that out with some chorizo and peppers and nothing stuck! It was easy clean up by just swirling some water to make sure no food residue was left when I packed it away. Another great addition is the handle for the pot, or rather subtraction as the handle is removable so you can just hold your warm pot by the sleeve and not have the pot handle in the way once you’re done cooking. While the handle does remove from the pot, it also pivots up to lock the lid on during travel so your stove, gas, and gas can stabilizer stay nested neatly in the pot and not jumbled in your pack. The biggest win here is that the flame is truly adjustable. While older stoves the flame is kept at a blast all times, this stove truly adjusts down which is great after getting water boiled or cooking something more delicate that you can adjust the flame down to simmer what’s in the pot, saving you fuel and making sure your fuel can lasts you that much longer. It’s so adjustable that you can even toast marshmallows perfectly when the flame is turned way down low. Other great features to touch on are the bottom cover for the pot is soft unlike the older thin and brittle pot covers from when Jetboil stoves were first new. The bottom cover is soft and stands up to hot food spectacularly as well as having measurements on the side. The last notable feature I can think of is the strainer and the pour hole on the pot lid. It makes pouring or draining water so easy and you don’t just dribble it down the side cover of your pot. I’d like to note that the only place where I think Jetboil missed the mark was the placement of the measurement marks in the pot. Having it directly across from the handle rather than on the two sides next to the handle make it hard to read the markings. That is minor though as I previously stated that the bottom cover does have measurement marks on it. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using a jet boil for the last few weeks on my camping trips and I really enjoyed the product. They included base makes the fuel canister and stove very stable! I also really like the boiling container with the insulated sleeve and rubber eyes handle to keep it from getting too hot. I still haven’t gone through a full fuel canister after a few days of use with my family. The water boils quickly to add to our dehydrated camping meals. I’ve really enjoyed using the product and it is now our go to on our family camping trips. I’m looking forward to testing it on an upcoming hiking trip to Havasupai Falls. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok let’s talk! The JetBoil Trailcook 1.2L has been awesome to cook with for the past couple weeks! Let’s start with stability of the pot on the new burner. Not once was I concerned with knocking over the pot while I was stirring and holding my 4 month old in my other arm while trying to show my toddler what I was doing! As per usual water boiled super fast. I have been able to cook full meals with this bad boy. The built in igniter has worked great. I love that I can better control the temperature with the temp dial. Fuel efficiency was great! For when I’m just using freeze dried meals I love the spout feature in the lid. Also I’ve been able to boil vegetables in this and the strainer side is nice! Only issue is I wish I didn’t have to hold the lid in place to completely drain the pot. But I’m not complaining, this thing is great for backpacking, overlanding, and also just park picnics with the family! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you Jetboil and Expertvoice for giving me this fine product for free to test, review and give my honest feedback. I’ve been using the TrailCook I.2 L all over the Sierra, White Mountains and in the Owen’s Valley. I absolutely love the TrailCook 1.2L. It’s the perfect size for what I want to do in the backcountry. It stores easily in my pack and it’s lightweight. I can store everything inside the pot but I can’t store the fuel canister but that’s not a big deal. I do have a large canister for multiple days. I’ve added videos to show how well it works. 2 minute boil time at 7740 ft, it’s super fast. 2.5 minute boil time at 10000ft. It’s versatile for car camping or backpacking, I enjoying cooking so this is perfect for those days at camp after an amazing hike. This is definitely my go to for my backpacking I love the lid, you can strain out water and cover your food while cook like I have pictured. It’s non stick and easy to clean. From just boiling water to cooking your favorites on the trail. This is the cook system for you.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jetboil gave me this free product to try. Jetboil sent me the Jetboil TrailCook System to test out, and it’s been a great little addition to my fly fishing kit. Most of my fishing days involve hiking into smaller streams, so pack space matters. The TrailCook packs down really nicely and fits easily into my bag without taking up much room. Everything nests together, which makes it simple to toss in with the rest of my gear. One of the first things I noticed is how fast it heats water. When you’re on the river and want coffee or a quick meal, it doesn’t take long at all to get things boiling. The integrated lighter makes it really easy to get going too — just click it and you’re set, which is nice when your hands are cold or wet from fishing. It’s also surprisingly stable, even when I’m setting it up on uneven ground like gravel bars or rocky banks. The system seems really fuel efficient as well. I’ve been able to get several uses out of a single fuel canister just making coffee and heating water for quick meals. I also like the ceramic coating inside the pot — it’s really easy to clean, which is nice when you’re out for a long day and don’t want to spend time scrubbing gear. Overall it’s just a simple, reliable setup. Packs small, heats fast, and works great for quick coffee or meals during a long day of fishing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is by far one of the best cook systems I’ve used so far in my time outdoors. The speed at which the water began boiling was mere seconds, just enough time for me to prepare my meal for the hot water! It also packs down nicely, with all of the compartments fitting inside of the pot! The set is also easy to put together as all features are self explanatory, screw on fuel can to stove and light! My favorite feature is no longer needing to “lock” the pot into the stove, I can just set on top and am good to go. Meaning I can use any of my other cook pots and even pans! Fuel consumption was also a notable feature, as this boiled several cups of water on separate occasions and barely touched the fuel can! This is a new favorite in my gear setup, and will be replacing my current cook-set!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have many versions of Jetboils and this one has come along way from theOG Jetboil. Pros: Lightweight, easily packable, boils in a little over 2 minutes, has a built in strainer and pour option on the lid, has a simmer control- just not blazing hot, cools down quickly so you can get back on the trail, the protected flux ring won’t get bet up like theOG style, and the pot support truly supports a full pot. Cons: the two position handle is not as easy as I hoped to switch positions- it gets caught and it is just clunky to switch positions, the fuel can stabilizer was difficult to remove until I figured out the trick to push the center triangle part towards the stabilizer leg you are trying to remove. Once the stabilizer is on, it won’t easily fall off. Jetboil gave me this free product to try. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I have little to no experience with jetboil products, and received this product for free anticipating the unknown. It is very difficult to find a lightweight stove system geared towards actual cooking in the backcountry. Most offer fast and quick ways to boil water efficiently, and thought there is no problem to this, I find it difficult to cook anything in titanium. The ceramic coating, wide burner, and heating coils allow this pot to do pretty much everything. 16 oz of water boils in 2 minutes and 30 seconds at a tested altitude of 5,000 feet. This is great considering the wide base of the pot. Food I tested (eggs, potatoes, peppers, pancakes) cooks great and doesn’t stick. Soups also cook and reheat extremely well. I cooked pasta and tomato soup from scratch, which turned out great. Cleanup is super easy, as water can be boiled after cooking , which loosens all the leftover debris. I have very little negatives regarding this product other than the lid might come off easily while packed in a bag. I highly recommend this product, and I will use it for all ventures from car camping to backpacking. I have to be honest, this thing works so well that I barely had time to use it because of how fast it heated up my food and water. Highly impressed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All trail chefs! A new player has entered game. The TrailCook 1.2L dominates the world of backcountry culinary adventures. I was able to get a solid boil in about 2 mins 20 seconds. The base snaps onto JetBoil fuel canisters and gives the setup a sturdy base. The first time I used it was during a windy hike along Lake Superior and I didn't see any major effects in boil times due to wind. I'm impressed by the new flame adjustment mechanism. It allows more control over flame strength. No longer do you only have off and blowtorch. This gives a surprisingly amount of flexibility when it comes to cooking. Ignition was solid and worked every time. The handle is well built and folds over the lid, which has a pasta strainer. I was worried the lid would pop off in my backpack during hiking, but that wasn't the case. I do like how the pot sits on the stove, rather than twisting on. If you cook, then you know sometimes you need to remove from a heat source quickly. Cleanup was simple. Everything nested in the pot itself. There is also a storage bag included that holds the heating element. This stove will appeal to the full range of backcountry chefs. You can keep it simple for sure, but this stove allows anyone to let dinner get a bit more daring and complex. A very thoughtful evolution. Jetboil gave me this free product to try.
