Enjoyed the fit, durability could be better

Enjoyed the fit. I have a narrow foot and had to close down the lace more for comfort. Great until the toe came through the top of the shoe. Only used for 7 months with wear outside of work. Did mixed workouts usually in parking lot. Like the shoe, better durability desired. This is my third set of the Nova shoe and don't plan to buy again until I see a better toe cover update.

Horrible Value

I have a pair that I bought 4 months ago. They have a huge hole where the mesh panel meets the rubber. It continues to rip along the seam. That is the right side. The left is starting to rip now too. Don’t waste your money. Cheap garbage

100 Mile Ultra Approved

So I purchased the Nova 4 on a whim as I was scrambling for a shoe for my upcoming 100 miler on 9/5. Kinda crazy to be so last minute, I know but the right shoe is always lingering over me. Historically I've ran in Altra's because I love their fit and foot shape but don't need or care for the zero drop. Having run five 100 mile ultras prior, I know how much feet can take a beating from the long hours, swelling, blistering, etc. Insert the Nova 4 that comes with a generous but secure fit, firm but cushioned ride, and grippy but not clunky outsole. I logged 12 miles in these on the road prior to my 100 miler that was on a dedicated singletrack trail. The road miles felt great, not clunky at all despite their fairly aggressive lug pattern and depth. Now transition to the trails, they felt even better! No slips and the cushioning protected my feet all day and night. It was a gamble being so last minute but I'm really happy that I stumbled upon the Nova 4 by Merrell. I'll be purchasing a few more pairs of these given how well they worked on trail and how versatile they seem off trail since most of my daily miles are on dirt/gravel back roads. **their fit is true to size for me

Wonderful fit and comfort, styling is lacking

I'm really torn on this iteration of the Nova. I love Nova shoes; I always buy multiple pairs of them in differing colorways. This newest version has a slightly wider toe box in normal width, which makes them extremely comfortable in my normal size right out of the box. I am not a fan of the new styling at all. I hate how they've gone with the wider/thicker appearing sole. Styling is just as important as fit and how comfortable they are in today's market with so many options available. I do not anticipate buying any more pairs during this generation of the Nova because of this. They are extremely comfortable which I've come to expect, but the reduced stars are due to the styling.

good looking. but not a serious trail shoe.

comfortable out of the box. looks good. but not a serious trail shoe. should fall under "light" for the trail rating. imo, midsole is too bouncy for proper ground feel (slightly improved with superfeet insole) and minimal confidence in lateral stability. the outsole is outstanding for dry, non-technical trails. however, the "grip" on wet rocks and/or roots is non-existent and borderline dangerous. not sure i've ever experienced a more slippery outsole. although i hate its billboard-sized branding, i should have gone with the Agility Peak 5 and the vibram megagrip sole.

Simplicity and Style!

The Nova 4 offered impressive durability and grip, with a wider toe box and larger fit. It is among the best trail shoes that I’ve worn. They do all the important things extremely well, and I've found myself wanting to wear them for everything, everyday beyond just trail running.

Great cushioning and outsole traction!

I just got a pair of Nova 4's for spring trail running and training in Colorado. I love them right out of the box. Nice fit, adequate cushioning and great traction on varied trails and terrain.

Very Good ... but fit is a bit large!

So far they've been to the top of Mauna Kea and the 2 hour Captian Cook Trail on Hawaii. Next up is fishing in Key West. Great design and comfort (I added an insert ... but I do that on every shoe I buy). I do like the angle of the rear sole which is great for decents. The fit is slighlty larger than I was expecting ... I'm an 8 but probably could have gone with a 7.5 which is surprising for a trail shoe. I have another Merrell trail shoe that I bought for mountain biking and they are pretty tight in comparison.

Very Comfortable Shoe

I'm starting to think that I really got lucky on this one. This shoe turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. I had been scouring the ultra-comfortable market (On, Hoka, Nike, Brooks) and after several attempts to find a really comfortable, stable shoe that has a great toe box; I found these. Maybe they are a good match for my feet. Maybe it was the fact that the first attempt was the perfect size. I'm not sure, but I really like these shoes.

I love these shoes!

Very comfortable shoe. I have medium-high arches, and I can feel the arch support in these. I love running in these shoes. I've ran on the road, track, and trail, and these do it all comfortably.
