Maui Jim  Ho'okipa Ultra G Polarized Sunglasses

I recently purchased the Maui Jim Ho’okipa Ultra G sunglasses, and I’m very impressed with their performance. The photochromic mirror lenses adapt perfectly to changing sunlight, keeping vision clear and comfortable throughout the day. Colors appear vibrant and natural without being harsh on the eyes. The frame is lightweight yet sturdy, making it very comfortable to wear for long periods. I often move between bright outdoors and shaded areas, and these lenses adjust smoothly every time. The overall build quality feels premium, just what you’d expect from Maui Jim. These sunglasses combine functionality, comfort, and style — an excellent choice for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors.

Perfect for windy West Texas quail hunting. The lens shape and frame fit provides full protection to eyes from dust and debris in gusty and stiff winds. The temple style and fit kept the glass firmly in place under recoil and sudden, jerking spins to catch quail flushing. This lens color seemed ideal to provide better contrast (not too dark) for the flying birds and seemed to make the colors of the downed quail more vibrant and easy to find. I didn't buy these glasses for this purpose, but they were in the truck at camp when I headed out to hunt and realized the cold front moving in was going to be gusty. (Further, you really should be wearing glasses when shooting a firearm!)

Exceeded expectations. Beautiful optics. Worth every penny.

I own 3 pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses and this is the first pair that I have not liked. I find that no matter how I adjust them on my face, sun seems to get through to reflect off the inside of the lens back into my eyes. The lenses are fine in very low light but the fact that sun reflects off the inside of the lens into my eyes makes them ineffective as sunglasses. I also think the price tag for the Photochromatic lens is pretty steep for the lens quality. I prefer a standard lens color vs the light-adjusting lens. I've returned these and will look for another pair.

Third pair of Maui Jim's. Always classy. Nice birthday gift to add to my collection!

I’ve owned more than seven pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses over the years, and the Ho’okipa Ultra G continues to remind me why I keep coming back to this brand. The lens clarity is second to none, with exceptional color, contrast, and glare reduction that make everything look crisp and natural. These sunglasses are incredibly lightweight, fit comfortably all day, and stay securely in place without feeling tight. Whether I’m driving, spending time outdoors, or on the water, they perform flawlessly.

I really wanted to love these sunglasses, but the fit just isn’t right for me. The way they sit on my nose causes the top of the frames to rub against my eyebrows, and I find myself constantly adjusting them throughout the day. For a pair at this price point, I expected a more refined and comfortable fit. The build and lens quality are great, but the overall experience is hard to enjoy when the frames never quite stay where they should.

I purchased a pair for golf and the clarify of the lens and weight of the frame are amazing. Top of the sunglasses i had from other brands. However, the nose pad design does not work for me. it was too low and my eye brushes the lens often through the day. it is a bit annoying. I also had a red sand which has the perfect nose pad design and worked great. Wish this can be improved.

The Ho’okipa style is my favorite. Like the fit and weight of the Ultra G glasses. I also like the fact that the temple arms lock in to place. The HT Photochromic green lenses are deceiving in that the look very light, but they actually do darken in sunlight. I also like the curve bottoms of the lenses. Perfect fit for my cheeks.
