Walking all over a footprint
I've only had time to use this to camp in my backyard. The set up was using a 2-person Salida tent (obviously not the right size; this footprint is made for a 6-person tent). The environment is Pacific Northwest, late winter (this year was relatively dryer and warmer). The footprint feels solid and well built; being a footprint, it is light and "flowy". It has 4 tent stake loops to anchor to a tent. It kept my tent dry overnight. It, naturally, added no insulation or padding to the floor of my tent. What I like about this: I like how light it is and how small you can get it. I think, however, that if you're using a 6-person tent, you probably have decent access to a vehicle (could be presumptuous). It does pack very small. The feel of the fabric is smooth and svelte. It feels nice. There is a clear "water-resistant" side which makes it easy to set up. I like that the border stitching is double-stitched and feels sturdy -- tear and rip resistant. The rivet in which the tent stake goes feels well crafted and quality metal. That should last a long time. What I don't like about this: I wish the tent stake loops had more meat on them in terms stitching and how they are attached to the footprint itself. As it is, they are hardly stitched on and I feel like it wouldn't take too much to rip them off. Overall, I would buy this product and recommend it to my friends/family.
