Big fan so far
I've only had these for a few days, but have put about 15miles on them (city walking) so far and I'm really enjoying them. I have narrow feet but can spread my toes pretty far apart so I appreciate the wide toe box. The first day I wore them it rained heavily and they definitely lived up to their waterproof claim. I should not be allowed to own white things so I got the brightly colored blue and purple pair and I think they look super fun. Will be back to update if anything changes, but so far I would give these a great recommendation. I feel like I have a huge range of sizes of shoes so I'm not sure how to rate the fit, but I did go with a half size which has worked out for me; my experience with previous Keens is that they do end up stretching out a bit with wearing in.

Heel is too wide
These are really cute sneaker-like Keens that could cross over to work. There is a generous toe box in the standard shoe, but the heel is so wide that my foot slips out the back and doesn't feel supported at all, despite sizing down a half size. Unfortunately, will have to return.

Waterproof and feel like tennis shoes

I bought these shoes for an upcoming Alaskan land/sea cruise where waterproof shoes are a necessity. After trying on many in store, I chose the Targhee Apex for their tennis-shoe like feel. I wore them on a weekend camping trip to break them in, and I am so glad I did. Not only did the shoes feel broken in very quickly, but they lived up to their waterproof name. Our campsite was an unexpected mud pit, and these shoes were such a blessing. My feet were dry all weekend, and the shoes cleaned up very easily once home.

Comfortable hiker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Keen Targhee Apex is a comfortable shoe! One of the first things I noticed is how quiet the outsole and midsole were when walking around the store on carpet and cement. They've since been on a dusty hike and a rainy road-to-trail hike. Nice cushioning, stability, and no dust nor water got inside the shoes. Since these shoes are nearly white you can see that some dirt has stayed in the crease on the forefooot even after being hosed off. (Again, no water got inside. ) Fit wise, these have a neutral insole, roomier toebox, and wider heel. To keep my foot from sliding forward and to have a better fit for my heel I will add Superfeet insoles. This shoe runs true to size so I went up 1/2 a size to allow for swelling on longer and hot hikes. Nice shoe. I look forward to seeing how it feels after putting more miles on it.

Not waterproof

I’m a gardener I buy these for the summer to wear on dry days. I start early so the most I’m dealing with is wet grass and an occasional shower from the hose. Very disappointed not even two weeks in and only wore 6 days out of the two weeks not daily use. Wet feet are not what I need to have after and 12 hour plus day. Bought a similar style boot last year and the same. Not worth it if you actually use them.

Too wide

I like wide width shoes, but they are way too wide in the toes. They make my feet slide with and without socks. Otherwise they are comfy.

Great waterproof hiking shoe!

I got these in preparation for a visit to Yosemite. I’ve put 50 miles on them so far and they are extremely comfortable. I have a wide foot and these are perfect. Roomier toe box. They do not let water in either. Would highly recommend these!

Perfect for walking on trails and in cities

Great, comfortable, supportive shoe for those trips where you’re doing both a quick hike in the woods and then a long walk in the city. I range from a 7-8 depending on the shoe, anf my feet skew wide, and the 7.5 fit perfect with minimal break in period. I do question the durability - tiny chunks of foam have already fallen off the bottom. But it’s held up for a few months and lots of walks/hikes. I haven’t done any serious hiking with these but I intend for them to be more of a hybrid trail/city shoe.
