There’s a lot I like about this parka, but the downsides mean I’m still looking for something better. Within the first few weeks, the shell fabric started to fray. This shell material is like wearing a wool sweater in a freezing wind storm, in that the wind flows right through it to your skin. I’ve been wearing this parka with thick layers underneath that are not meant to be wind proof and this jacket doesn’t complete any sort of windproof layer for you. What I really is the two outer upper zippered pockets. Those are critical for things I need to grab right away or stash quickly. The length is helpful for warmth. The hood is too loose in wind, it really needs a way to cinch down the circle of material around your face. I like the size of it, but it needs a cinch for the front fabric. I’ve been wearing this park every day for the last month in everything from subzero to 30° F, no wind to high winds, snow and hail. It’s definitely not an 8000 m and isn’t designed to be, but I really hope that BD makes a better version of this with a more burly shell material that is windproof with high friction patches on shoulders and cuffs. I keep expecting my equipment to rip a hole right through this parka when I’m carrying gear of my shoulder. .
Super cute and very warm! Kept me warm through -40 Alaska temps!
I'm 5'9, 140 lbs, female, and bought the women's medium size. I like the M size, as there is plenty of room to fit more layers under, or a cinch at the waist if I am not wearing a lot of layers. I bought this for an ice climbing trip to AK, but have not yet truly tested out how well it does in the cold. Love the color, hope it keeps me nice and warm up north :)
This jacket is awesome, it's super warm and cozy. I am 5'6" 125 lbs and typically wear a small in most outdoor brands, but this runs small. If I were between a small and medium I would size up in case you want to wear layers under it.
Got this for my girlfriend for the winter and she hasn’t taken it off. Great for people who run cold, good fit, and tough materials to hold up to some abuse while scrambling around Utah.
Keeps you warm for sure, even on the summits in the winter Tetons. Its a great cut/fit, even with a helmet on under the hood. Plenty of large pockets too.
Perfect jacket to climbing mountains and keeping you warm. I am very happy with the election
I have yet to have a piece of BD kit that was dissatisfied with. Always on point.
This parka is a game-changer. I'm ready to attack this winter.
