The Vega 2 has been an awesome tent so far for my wife and I. It serves as a perfect option for those outdoor trips where you do not need the ultra lightweight tent and instead want a little more space (while still packing small and being only roughly 5lbs). It includes all the high quality materials anyone that uses Exped products should be familiar with. Setup is quick and easy to figure out and it becomes incredibly clear that every detail was considered when producing this tent. The included footprint is also a huge plus to help with durability while also being removable if weight is a factor. Very happy with our purchase!
This is not the lightest 3 summer backpacking tent, but the headroom and the anchoring cord system are great. Feels very sturdy! 5 stars if it would be a little lighter, but I will leave the ground sheet at home when weight is top priority.
I recently picked up the Exped Vega 2, and I’m genuinely pleased with it. As a new model, there aren’t many reviews out yet, so I wanted to share my experience after putting it through some real use. The standout features for me are the excellent airflow and the surprisingly generous interior space. From the outside, it doesn’t look overly large, but once you’re inside, the steep side walls give it a noticeably roomier and more comfortable feel than you’d expect from a two-person backpacking tent. I had plenty of space to set up a cot and self inflating mat inside. Setup and takedown are straightforward and intuitive. The interconnected pole system and clips make pitching it quick and easy. Taking it down is just as simple, which is a big plus after a long day on the trail. One of the most practical tests came when I moved the entire tent—fully pitched—inside and out of my Gazelle G6. Being able to pick it up and reposition it without breaking it down was incredibly convenient. It also packs up small and actually all fits back in the provided sack. Overall, the Vega 2 strikes a great balance of lightweight portability, livable space, and solid performance. If you’re looking for a versatile 3-season tent that doesn’t sacrifice comfort, I highly recommend it. I’ll definitely be using this one for many trips to come.
