would recommend.I bought it looking for something light but robust. And it these were perfect.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very impressed. Took them out for a test run did 30kms and was so comfortable no discomfort. So happy I bought them. Didn’t fist ultra marathon in them
The ASU 2 keeps the fun and speed from the original, but refines the fit and feel. Far more stable feeling underfoot with noticeably better grip in the mud. The additional heel padding kept my foot locked in and comfortable. I went true to size and had ample room around my forefoot and toes. Overall I think this shoe is worth the upgrade from the first version and different enough to try out if the first wasn't the right fit for you
I really liked the Ultra Speed 1, though they did have their slight niggles. A hard ride, slightly uncomfortable, low tread. The Model II has upgraded these niggles, without compromising on what was great… And this is unusual, as so many times I see a good shoe turn bad on second, third additions. Don’t believe the weight though. A size 44/45 is 305 grams.
After two pairs of the first version, this new version feels and runs like the same shoe, which is nice. I got the same size as I had in version one before hearing the sizing was fixed. With version one on one foot and version two on the other, the sizing feels identical to me. I like the upper changes—lockdown is easier and the tongue is more comfortable. The larger lugs are also a win.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was impressed with these didn’t think they could get any better than the original trainer, got to try them out at the Kendal mountain festival in all the rain and mud and did not disappoint on assents or descents. Just as comfortable and like the original have had no blistering or rubbing issues as I’ve got wide feet.
I was very excited to try the new model of the ASU after going through five pairs of the current model in the last 18 months. The sizing has changed drastically. The size 13 I ordered seems to be almost a full size smaller than the current model and is too small for me to run in. The upper material is much less breathable, to the point you can barely feel any air flow when trying to blow through it. The eye stays have been extended about 2 cm from the current model and the extra length is not needed. The new model is 23 grams heavier in the same size as the current ASU. The padding around the heel is a positive improvement. The upper seems overbuilt with the heavy Terrex overlays on the upper. With the advancements in shoe technology it would have been easy to cut weight and make improvements to the current version, but these have clearly gone backwards. The 7% increase in weight for the premier race shoe is shocking. Maybe version three will be better, but waiting until 2028 is a long time ago
Size: UK11 - Fit TTS Was not sure if to get these or wait until the TT version came out in February- but decided to go for it. Good choice, the shoes look and fit better than V1 - they are a bit softer under foot, notably on roads etc where I thought the V1 was a bit harsh. Fit is really good and comfy enough and runs well. No issues as of yet in relation to stability, but I also never had any issues with version 1. There is a 10g weight increase to the V1 but obviously this is nothing unless you are a pro athlete. OK at all paces and walks. The tongue is a little longer and enabled a more comfy runners knot without getting any lace bite. Water dissipates better than V1 as felt that held water a bit - no issues noted yet with V2. One thing which would have been nice would be to a built in gaiter sock to avoid any debris (not had anything enter yet but had quite a bit with V1). If not on the sapper ultra version then on the TT or Agravic 4 Overall for me an improvement to the originals and look even better. For info am 6’2” and weigh 96kg
Definitely recommend this shoe! Very comfortable for long tough runs
I loved the ASU 1 an the ASU 2 is even better. It’s super comfortable and encourages a good mid/forefoot technique helping me run better. I run a lot of road to trail and it plays beautifully across surfaces too. Highly recommended.
