Arc'teryx  Cormac Hoody - Men's

I bought the cormac hoody about a month ago and I liked the color and fit.

This is a pretty simple but high functioning piece, allowing you to move at medium to high output from spring to fall while keeping your skin safe from the sun. The hood frames the face well and fits neatly over a hat or under a helmet, while the thumb loops ensure you can prevent back of hand burns while traveling over snow and at altitude. It is a synthetic fabric, so while it's great at the intended functions, it doesn't naturally keep smells away like Merino, something to consider for expedition use when it won't get a lot of washes.

I love big days in the alpine, but have paid the sunburn toll a few too many times. When I know I will be out in serious UV, this is my trusted top. From spring ski mountaineering to summer scrambling, the Cormac is versatile and can act as a base layer to mid depending on the user and temps. A few examples: 1. Summer trail run. Acts as a base layer (no shirt under) that I can wear all day at low to moderate output. 2. Spring ski mountaineering. Layer with a merino shirt under and a puffy / shell on top as needed. The only tweak I would make on this piece is to make it a bit more breathable, but that is personal preference. For most temps and most output levels, it is perfect to keep you protected from the sun.

The Cormac Hoody is part of my go to running and walking/hiking gear in temps ranging from uber humid 95 degree days in the D.C. area to more moderate/warm mountain, beach and pool days. Super light and comfortable and especially great under the unrelenting sun and heat. After purchasing/wearing my first, I ordered four additional ones in short order -- and while I'm traditionally a large in all Arc'teryx products, these run a little big, so I wear it in medium and it is still very comfortable and not tight (I'm 6'2"-6'3", 195 lbs). For a tall, athletic build, the medium is a perfect length and has perfect sleeve length when wearing hoody and/or using thumbholes. Big fan.

This hoody is ridiculously oversized. I have several Arcteryx shirts in size large. The sleeves on this hoody are easily 3" longer and the body is 2" wider than other Arcteryx shirts.

My Favorite Sun hoody for running or ski touring. Light and airy. Dry's fast, durable, thumb holes for added protection, and great coverage from the hood. I'm 6 ft and 175 lbs and wear the medium. My only complaint would be that there aren't enough light colors. When I'm in the sun I want a light color that doesn't attract the sun.

One hoodie to rule them all! Haha. This thing is awesome. Can be used as a base layer or second layer in the winter for high output activities. Climbing on hot summer days, I’ll change into this after the approach and leave it on all day, hiding as best I can from the sun while keeping me cool. This hoodie is great value IMHO. Had mine for several years now and it shows no signs of wearing down. It has a comfortable fit, def relaxed. Fits great over a helmet and doesn’t get to smelly after multiple days of use on loner trips. Don’t generally go out without it. A “daily driver” for sure.

I have purchased several Arc’teryx Cormac hoodies over past 6 years with various changes in fit and fabrics… but have still loved all of them. However, this recent fabric change is horrible and subject to snagging under normal conditions. Within two weeks’ use, the hoody had fabric snag that can not be pulled out.

I have had the hoody for a couple of weeks now and I must say it has become my favorite hiking shirt. I burn easily but wearing l/s shirts outside in the summer is way too hot. This hoody breathes great so I stay cool. The hood keeps me from becoming bacon.

Just spent 7-days in the sierra high country with this shirt. I wore it all day, every day. Rinsed it in a lake in the afternoon and I was dry easily by morning. Tough days backpacking. The shirt still looks like the day I bought it.
