*Edit* this is NOT UPF/SPF rated. I hadn’t noticed that when I purchased. Today I got a severe sunburn through the fabric. Also, the gridded material can chafe. I wore this yesterday on a windy 16 mile run and it performed perfectly. It’s strongest point is that the hood stays up no how fast I’m moving or how hard the wind is blowing. Ultra lightweight and breathable. It would awesome if it had a watch window in the sleeves, but that’s about the only thing I would change. So far not stink, but I haven’t worn it for several days in a row yet.
I knew it was lightweight when I ordered it, but wow, it is impressive in person. I have a Capilene Cool hoody I have use for several years for trail running and backpacking. It was great sun protection and never stank, but I like this one even more. The material is quite breathable and so far no stink. My only concerns are that it might not be very durable compared with my previous Patagonia hoody and that it may not deflect as much UV as the previous one. But one major advantage is that hood stays on my head… even with strong wind in my face, and that’s without using the button to make it more secure. This is a great shirt so far!
Can’t say enough good things about this. Used for a competitive race near the southern border, with temps around 100*. The shirt was cool despite the heat, and stayed breathable and comfortable when saturated as the pace became more intense. Dries very quickly in sunlight.
This is my new favorite bikepacking shirt! On or off the bike, the Ultra Hoody protects me from the sun without having to slather on sunscreen. It's so breathable and light that I hardly notice that it's on. The fit is accurate as I'm wearing a medium at 5'8" 175#.
I have worn this on a few hot, humid days and felt much cooler than usual. I have always been a fan of light sun shirts instead of sunscreen. Now, this is not a true sun shirt, because the material is thin and airy, but that thin, airy material was glorious. On hot breezy days it lets the breeze through while keeping the heat of the sun off of me and this was a big improvement over my older shirts. Definitely worth the upgrade.
Nice lightweight long sleeve with hoody for hot humid weather. Very cool and comfortable to wear. The odor control is great and so is the fast drying. I use it for traveling and washes easily in the shower and dries overnight. Also like the UV protection to avoid getting sun burn.
This is the best sun hoody I've owned - I just ran a 50 mile ultra in it in some hot mountain weather in CO and it performed incredible! It breathed well and I barely noticed it on the run.
This is an amazing sun hoody. It stays away from your skin, dries fast, and wicks moisture like no other. I have used smartwool products forever and I feel way cooler and drier in this.
