Very durable and comfortable sun shirt! Have had sun shirts from various brands and this one seems to be the most durable so far. The fabric has a reinforced grid material that doesn’t pick easily but is still very comfortable on the skin. Not sold on the chest pocket but it doesn’t really get in the way or feel uncomfortable if you don’t use it. Has thumb holes that give extra hand coverage. Fit is true to size for other Patagonia clothes I’ve had. I am 5’4” and about 140 and XS is the size I got. Collar seems to be holding up well. The material has less stretch than other sun shirts I have so no worries on the collar stretching out over time and fits comfortably on my neck. Another great Patagonia product!
Really nice sun shirt, great for hiking, biking, or just wearing around. The medium fit me well, even though I usually wear large shirts. It's a pretty snug fit, but not too tight. The sleeve length is excellent. I have relatively long arms and the sleeves are plenty long, with enough length to use the thumb holes and still have room to move. The fabric is nice - lightweight and comfortable. Being polyester, though, I wonder about the shirt holding odors after multiple uses such as during a camping or backpacking trip. I also like the chest pocket, which is well made and seems durable. It's handy for small, lightweight items; I wouldn't want to put anything bulky or heavy in it. Really my only gripe is that the thumb holes are somewhat small and thus made for a tight fit, which gets a little uncomfortable after wearing for a while. Overall, a solid option for lightweight, breathable sun protection. Comfortable, easy to move in, not too tight and not too baggy.
I got this Patagonia Capilene Cool Sun Long-Sleeve shirt in a medium for my husband… the fit is great. He says the fabric performs exactly as expected. It provides good sun protection and is lightweight and comfortable for outdoor activities. He’s worn it paddle boarding and biking and has had no complaints. The little pocket is a nice for carrying a boating license, a few cards or other small things such as a car key. The thumb holes are another good feature, especially when you want a little extra coverage from the sun. I also really appreciate that the fabric is made from 100% recycled polyester jersey and it’s made in a fair trade certified factory. Those things matter, and it’s always nice to see a brand taking extra steps to make a product that’s more environmentally and socially conscious. Overall, this has been a great outdoor shirt, and we definitely recommend it!
There is a lot to like about this shirt but one major flaw.Starting with the the good, oh so comfortable. It is very light breezy. The fabric feels soft and nice on skin, and it breathes well in the sun, not feeling to warm even when in the sun. The fatal flaw is the sleeves. They are huge. I consider myself to have pretty normal arm length, but these were so long. I compared it to my other sunshirts and the sleeves are a full 2 inches longer than most of them. Maybe if there was a tighter elastic on the cuff bit that doesn’t fit the free flow style. I felt like I was my hands and arms were swimming. Again I think I am of pretty normal proportions. I’m not saying this can’t be a good shirt just highly advise trying on in store and not trusting normal sizing and ordering on online.
I find myself grabbing for long sleeves sun shirts more and more often. The material of this top was excellent. The breathability of it while keeping the UV rays off me was pleasantly appreciated! Gosh the thumb holes! I am always happy to see them and for the extra protection my hands can get from the sun. The chest pocket is perfect to keep a light item. The zipper was silky smooth and only required one hand unlike others. My only minor complaint is the head hole was a little tight for my big head. There was a little stretch but I definitely needed to make my glasses off for it. The rest of the material being soft is great but it also leads to the chest pocket not being able to hold anything besides my ID and a few bills. I can say I sweat a little above average but no overall crazy. The shirt does retain moisture longer than I expect considering I was in direct sun. Over all I will definitely be grabbing this shirt for multiple situations.
Liking my new light brown Patagonia sun shirt. Light weight, nice fit, comfortable and great color. I’m a big guy and this shirt still is very comfy. Great for fishing, hiking or general outside activities.
I used the shirt for kayak fishing and yard work. It is very comfortable and breathed well, especially with a light breeze. Temperature was in 80's and sunny. I liked not having to use sun screen. One star deducted due to chest pocket, which i felt was unnecessary and awkward, as well as long sleeves that bunched up. I understand sleeves are longer to allow thumb holes, but I wouldn't use this feature. Overall, I plan to use this shirt a lot, and would likely get another.
Offers excellent, reliable UV protection during long hours outside. Handles intense hiking and running workouts with ease worth to invest
