I wanted to like these shoes. The description made them sounds perfect for me, but back they went. They have some toe room, but not a wide forefoot at all. I wear Lone Peaks and they fit fine, as I need a shoe that is wide across the ball of my foot. These were quite narrow at that widest part of my foot - plus they were curved oddly so that my big toe was in the middle of the toebox. There was room on the inside of the toe area, but my pinky was crushed against the side. The Vibram sole was nice and sticky, and the shoe has a nice look to it in the pink color. Also, I think I’d prefer a bit more cushioning. These are very firm.
I bought these alongside the HOKA Speedgoat 7 while training for long hikes, including Half Dome, and ended up preferring these by a pretty wide margin. The Experience Wild 3 just feels more natural on my feet. The toe box gives enough room without feeling sloppy, and I feel more stable and connected to the trail than I did in the taller, more rockered HOKAS. For slower endurance hiking and long descents, these have been fantastic. An unexpected bonus: my IT band seems noticeably happier in these. Obviously everyone’s biomechanics are different, but the lower stack and overall geometry just work better for my body. If you want a trail shoe that feels comfortable, stable, and less overengineered for long hiking days, I’d absolutely recommend trying these.
