Additional info on replacement filters should be included with each filter model ordered. it should include; - main replacement filter part number - charcoal filter replacement number. I read the online info on what the Go series filter does and does not remove from water. It appears as though the main filter harmful chemicals it does not remove is longer than what it does remove. And the charcoal filters' effective life is 25 gallons vs. the main filter effective life is 1000 gallons. That means a person would need 1000/25 = 40 charcoal filters to even be a comfort in an emergency. In general, filter replacement information is very vague and misleading.
I like the thought behind this but bad design. Been using for a week and still has an odd almost chemical taste to the water. Water leaks from the sip top when taking off the lid even though I blew air into it like suggested before closing lid topper. Have to suck on top like a bottle or straw and tip it. Last 2-3 ounces in bottom of bottle are unable to be utilized due to design on filter. Will Not buy again. I will try another product to use while I travel for cleaning water because this water bottle is a total miss. Don’t recommend, try another product to clean your water and pour into your own water bottle.
I have been inseparable from this bottle while traveling through Bolivia. I brought nearly the entire LifeStraw product line with me and while each and everyone of the products has been immensely valuable and appreciated by everyone in our group, this water bottle is always within a few feet of me. I carry it in a neoprene water bottle holder with a carabiner to make it easy to hold and strap to my backpack. Have grown to love this bottle
I bought this for my move away from the US, so I'm unable to return it. But, if I could, I would! The mouthpiece started to fall apart within the first month, and it's just disgusting to use. No amount of cleaning will make it look better because it's fraying/ falling apart. I'm hesitant to upload a picture. If you decide to purchase this, make sure you get some replacement mouthpieces from the get-go -you'll need to change them every month! Oh, and they are not available at REI and are only available in transparent through Lifestraw. The labelling also started to rub away almost immediately, too. You'll have to eyeball where the fill line should be. Honestly, it isn't worth it.
My husband and I used our lifestraw bottles for 2 weeks in Thailand and had terrific results.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LifeStraw Go Series Water Filter Bottle 22oz Merlot Me Away is a nifty little water bottle to have! It actually filters the water as you drink it. It is easy to put together, slightly difficult to start the water flow, and it gives a little more resistance than a normal water bottle, to be expected with the filter, so I wouldnt recommend this for a smaller child. My only concern would be, how do I know when to change the filter? I also haven't been brave enough to test it in "dirty" water... but it works making city water taste better and less chemically, so that is a huge plus in my opinion.
This month I saved 48 water bottles. I usually drink Poland spring and need 4 packs of 12 a month. This water bottle allowed me to drink tap water effortlessly. The filter definitely works because tap water ALWAYS gives me heartburn and I had zero heartburn this month. 10/10
I purchased a lifestraw go 1lt water bottle after reading all the glowing reviews. I’ve previously used lifestraw while hiking, with no issues and the bottle seemed like a no brainer. What an expensive mistake. The water tastes disgusting. Foul. Plasticky. The water tastes like latex smells. I’m not joking. The first taste made me vomit. And that was after cleaning the bottle, lid, mouthpiece, and prepping the filter as per the instructions. So I cleaned, rinsed, and tried again. Still foul. Still gag worthy. At least I didn’t vomit! Several cleans, rinses, and different water later, and it still tastes foul. Sorry guys, this is a no from me. And these things are EXPENSIVE as here in Australia. A big let down.
Loving the lifestraw go bottle! Always fresh clean zero taste water so far, about 10 gallons!
