replacement filters

Additional info on replacement filters should be included with each filter model ordered. it should include; - main replacement filter part number - charcoal filter replacement number. I read the online info on what the Go series filter does and does not remove from water. It appears as though the main filter harmful chemicals it does not remove is longer than what it does remove. And the charcoal filters' effective life is 25 gallons vs. the main filter effective life is 1000 gallons. That means a person would need 1000/25 = 40 charcoal filters to even be a comfort in an emergency. In general, filter replacement information is very vague and misleading.

Reliable travel buddy

I have been inseparable from this bottle while traveling through Bolivia. I brought nearly the entire LifeStraw product line with me and while each and everyone of the products has been immensely valuable and appreciated by everyone in our group, this water bottle is always within a few feet of me. I carry it in a neoprene water bottle holder with a carabiner to make it easy to hold and strap to my backpack. Have grown to love this bottle

filtering water bottle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LifeStraw Go Series Water Filter Bottle 22oz Merlot Me Away is a nifty little water bottle to have! It actually filters the water as you drink it. It is easy to put together, slightly difficult to start the water flow, and it gives a little more resistance than a normal water bottle, to be expected with the filter, so I wouldnt recommend this for a smaller child. My only concern would be, how do I know when to change the filter? I also haven't been brave enough to test it in "dirty" water... but it works making city water taste better and less chemically, so that is a huge plus in my opinion.

Great water bottle

This month I saved 48 water bottles. I usually drink Poland spring and need 4 packs of 12 a month. This water bottle allowed me to drink tap water effortlessly. The filter definitely works because tap water ALWAYS gives me heartburn and I had zero heartburn this month. 10/10

Disgusting taste, like powdery plastic

I purchased a lifestraw go 1lt water bottle after reading all the glowing reviews. I’ve previously used lifestraw while hiking, with no issues and the bottle seemed like a no brainer. What an expensive mistake. The water tastes disgusting. Foul. Plasticky. The water tastes like latex smells. I’m not joking. The first taste made me vomit. And that was after cleaning the bottle, lid, mouthpiece, and prepping the filter as per the instructions. So I cleaned, rinsed, and tried again. Still foul. Still gag worthy. At least I didn’t vomit! Several cleans, rinses, and different water later, and it still tastes foul. Sorry guys, this is a no from me. And these things are EXPENSIVE as here in Australia. A big let down.

Lost our favorite bottle

We bought the Life Straws for a trip where we were advised to drink only bottled water. At first, since they are expensive, we reconsidered our purchase wondering if we’d ever use those bottles again with our normal hiking, biking, skiing activities. It took a bit to get used to the draw needed to get water since we are so accustomed to using water bottles without straws. We soon learned the value of the LifeStraw bottles and the reassurance we had drinking water from the airports and hotels. And, we reduced our impact on the environment by using our own bottle instead of multiple plastic bottles daily. We now recommend the LifeStraw bottle to friends even though we accidentally left ours sitting on a hotel check-in counter in Thailand.

Promo Coder as first time buyer

I've been looking at getting the twin pack of water bottles and extra carbon filters. I saw that if you give them your information, they'd send you a code for 15% off your first order. Well, GUESS WHAT, the code doesn't work. Makes you pay the full price. I've tried it a number of times and get the same result. These items do not qualify. It says when you signup, 15% off your order. Not, that it applies to only certain items that LifeStraw picks, but doesn't let you know what they are till you've placed items in your cart and try to check out.

Made our trip to Europe so much easier!

My sister and I, both school teachers, cruised for the first time ever and visited several ports along the Mediterranean. It was HOT so we needed quite a bit of water to stay hydrated. It was the best feeling to be able to use tap water or fountain water to get our water for free and not buy bottles. Neither one of us (we both have sensitive stomachs) experienced any sort of gastric issues whatsoever. Thank you so much for giving us peace of mind throughout our travels! I was really surprised when I saw some 4-star reviews, so I took the time to read them but did not find any merit in the comments to justify a reduced rating (my nerdy teacher opinion lol). I bought 2 additional bottles for my Canadian sister and cousin who are world travelers.

Good - with a couple big drawbacks

While I do love the filter and the overall look, the bottle has two major drawbacks. There is no texture or grip that makes it easy to open. The surrounding is completely smooth, and since every time you screw the top-lid closed it tightens the bottle a bit more, it is extremely difficult to get open sometimes. Wouldn't be good in a wet outdoor situation, or when you have arthritis or injured hands. Also - unless I missed it, there should be a bigger warning that a pressure change will cause the bottle to leak/spew water out of the mouthpiece. After driving up a mountain and opening my bottle, about 3/4 cup of water forced it's way out of the mouthpiece and onto my pants. It happens every time I change altitude. Again, the filter works great and the water always tastes the same!
