I was going to buy a benchmade custom from the benchmade website. Until I found this color combination at REI. This is beautiful color combo that feels outdoorsy and friendly. I didn’t want or need a tactical looking knife designed for covert ops. I can wear it in the pocket of my work shirt and walk through the office areas because it disappears next to my pen.
As a long-time fan of the Bugout platform, this REI-exclusive 535BK-2504 completely nails the details. The black Cerakote S30V blade is razor-sharp, durable, and handles everything from daily tasks to backcountry use with ease. The Grivory handle keeps it ultra-light while still offering a solid grip, and the burnt copper thumb stud and barrel spacers add just the right pop of personality without being over the top. The mini deep-carry clip keeps it discreet in the pocket, and the included 425 paracord lanyard with black bead is a smart, functional touch. To top it off, REI’s customer service was excellent—great communication, fast processing, and delivery ahead of schedule. This knife is a beauty, and the buying experience made it even better. Well done, Benchmade and REI!
I bought this knife for upcoming summer camping and backpacking trips. I’m a big fan of Benchmade knives and own a couple others I use as my main EDC knives. The Bugout exclusive is a great option for keeping weight down for backpacking. The blade holds an edge and is easy to sharpen. The action was a little stiff out of the box but became smooth with use. I highly recommend this knife.
I finally went to my local REI store and purchased their Exclusive Benchmade 535 Bugout in Forest Green/Sunrise with a black cerekote S30V blade and lanyard. Very happy with my purchase as I like Benchmade products and unique exclusives. This a an easy carry, lightweight knife that looks out-doorsy. Plus it’s a time tested product that can withstand the elements of both a family camping trip or a serious deep country expedition. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Well made, super sharp. Opening and closing aren’t that smooth, though I’m told there may be a break in or adjustments that can help. For a knife of this cost, would expect much smoother operation. However it is super light, disappears in my pocket, and very sharp. It is a quality everyday task knife. The light weight make it a good backpacking tool.
Impressed with this knife, I have a osborne I use daily, but wanted to switch it up while I get it serviced. This Bugout is super light, Its awesome as a EDC due to it. The blade its self is incredibly sharp
