Right size for campsite water

Did what it was supposed to. 3.9 gallons provided plenty of water, without making too heavy to carry from water source to camp. Seems durable. Kids knocked it off the table a few times, and didn’t explode.

The construction is weak and already resulted in plastic flexing I can't imagine I'll get more than another use of it. The nozzle is also faulty and leaks even when closed.

Not durable at all.

Liked this over a hard plastic option for packing purposes, unfortunately the plastic spigot doesn't last more than a few trips of use. On my second one (after exchanging for a new one though REI), used it camping for maybe two weeks and already its completely broken again. I may try to find a third party spigot to replace the unreliable one that comes with it.

Good but with issues

So, I bought my first one of these on Oct 31, 2017. I've taken it on easily 30 trips and am now having to replace it because it somehow got some damage that causes it to leak. When camping, I only ever keep it in the car. It's delicate, the corners are particularly thin (though a thicker part was where it got damaged and is leaking, go figure). I love that it collapses, you can bleed out the air and then no sloshing like a hard sided container. I dislike that after a few days, the water tastes weird from the plastic. I never had a problem with the spigot or anything else, but I am not rough with my car camping gear (my backpacking gear is another story). It's still a good option so I will probably replace it with the same thing.

Absorbs toxins, tastes like plastic

Mine is only a year old and used 3 times. I don’t think it’s food grade plastic but maybe due to flexibility it can’t be. I kept it stored in a plastic bin with citronella candles (don’t do this) and now the water tastes permanently like citronella. I’ve tried washing it with hot water, bleach solution, soap. It’s gross and I had to hear complaints for an entire weekend why the coffee tastes weird, the tea, the soup, etc. Maybe it just needs to be stored in a scent neutral environment but this does tell me that the plastic used here is of concern for drinking purposes. No leaks though, watertight spout.

Bang for the buck.

I live in a tiny apartment, so this caught my eye. It folds down nice and small, it's easy to fill, valve works great and so far it doesn't drip. It holds a lot of water though, two of us used less than half the water it holds over a 3 day road trip with camping along the way. It sits funny on a table top, but it doesn't really matter. It pours my water just fine no matter how you orient it. I haven't really figured out how to dry out the inside for storage yet, hoping somebody has figured it out. I'm reading a lot of reviews about it not being critter proof or very durable. Look, it's $10 for a pretty large, convenient container made from thin plastic. It's no Yeti, so it will be relatively fragile. If you be mindful of how you pack this thing in your car, campsite, or at home, it will be fine. If you get a hole, here's your chance to pick up the smaller one for your next trip.

Lifesaver

So we bought this to use for car camping for when we aren't near a spigot. And its great for that! But its a real MVP for hurricane (or any disaster) prep. We live on the coast and have to deal with the potential for hurricanes yearly. This has been brought out for every hurricane prep for the last few years for drinking water. I always say it was one of my best purchases.

Works well as water source for car camping

Our family uses this as a convenient water source at our campsite when car camping. Fill it up at one of the water spigots available at the campground and set it up over a collapsible sink to catch the flow and we have an nice hand washing station at our campsite, which is key for camping with little ones who are getting their hand in the dirt constantly, and ready source of water for filling smaller containers. I see a lot of reviews for people saying they have trouble traveling with this filled, we do not use it that way, so hasn't been an issue for us. We have limited packing space in our car for all our camp gear, so the fact that this container folds down to take up next to no space is key for our purposes. We camp several times a year and we have had one of these last for our four years before the valve has begun to leak. Seems a reasonable lifespan for the product, so replacing with a new one for the next 4-5 years.

Does the job

Great product. The semi-flexible material is a great middle ground - it stands up in its own like a hard sided container but can be squished into strange shaped spots like a soft sided container. Quality of the spout is definitely nothing impressive, but so far no leaks and it works. Would recommend.

good for one use before it tears and leaks

bought this to replace another foldable jug that tore after one use. this one also developed a tear and a leak after one use. the problem is when you have to fold it up the plastic is too brittle and it cracks and tears. otherwise I didn't have problems with the valve leaking.
