Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome boot Ive worn these in Afghanistan, Washington state, and southern texas. Rucked, ran with load and pt' ed in these. Feel better then my nike air max. Hold up well and get great traction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautifully constructed boot! I have a year-old pair of Lowa Ticam II GTX boots which I love. Unfortunately I have problem feet, and the Renegades don't have exactly the same last as the Ticams, so they didn't QUITE fit my bad foot. The Renegades were going to be my "dress" boots, but I had to (regretfully) return them to the store. Potential buyers should note: these boots are leather lined. Haven't seen such a thing for years! Beautiful, but it also means that the boots are not "waterproof" in the usual way, with Gore-Tex lining. Not an issue for me. If I'd been able to wear them I'd probably have given 5 stars, as I did for the Ticams.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for multi-day w/ heavy backpack Great to start, but... Tried on everything at REI...longtime backpacker Sierra. Bought these and great fit, right out of the box. 300 trail miles later, toe cap de-lam and the leather seam at little toes blew out. To be truthful, we were mostly off trail, fishing and did 14 days out - so 40+ pound packs...typical trip. Did not think harsh, or that where we went mattered. When contacted Lowa, was told the Renegade was not warranted/ designed for off-trail or multi-day backpacking on-trail. They should tell you this!

I presently have a pair of Vasque Breezes size 10W and they seem to fit okay. When I have my feet measured, they say my size is 10.5EE.What size should I get inthese boots?  Also, I am hiking the John Muir trail this summer. Is this the boot you that hike

Asked by: Randy52
The Renegade Leather Line Hiking Boots are available in a medium (D) width. The Lowa Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boots in wide sizes will be a better choice based on the width that you provided. https://www.rei.com/product/789686/lowa-renegade-gtx-mid-hiking-boots-mens The Renegades would be a fine choice for the John Muir Trail.

can you wear crampons with these boots?

Asked by: cliffwalker
We do not recommend using mountaineering crampons with these boots. The shank is not stiff enough to support the crampon.
