Excellent (in the early going)
We did a tremendous amount of research before settling on this particular roof rack (along with Thule Aero Blades) for our truck. So far, we're incredibly happy. We were able to easily fit two full golf bags, tennis racquets, and an assortment of other things up there. We chose this model because it is easy to install and take off--and it is every bit as good as the feedback there. Super simple to install the first time (though the Aero Blades are *not*) and to take off. Basically, you just turn four tensioners inside the box until they click, so there's never any question as to whether the box is secure or not. You may see a lot of reviews saying that the lock breaks off easily. This was our main consideration and, indeed, the lock mechanism on the Yakimas we looked at seemed slightly preferable. But the key thing to know is this: The box is designed to PREVENT LOCKING unless it is completely and securely closed. When it is closed properly, you will hear a nice, audible click--and the lock will turn easily. If the lock is not turning easily, well, that tells you that you didn't load the box correctly. If you are paying attention, there's no reason ever to break the lock; it's really sensibly designed. Easy, too, to adjust the front/back positioning to ensure full clearance of the SUV's cargo door.

too short for skis
I wouldn't recommend this if your skis are longer than 180cm

Good size and fits well on my Rav4

I bought this for the Christmas holidays for my 2023 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid and it fits great! My trunk hatch is about 15cm away from the end of the box. I like that I'm able to adjust the feet with their long adjustable mount to fit my factory installed bars. There is a tonne of space, so we fit 3 duffle bags inside with some backpacks, small bags and nordic skis with ample room still left. The locking mechanism is nice too because the entire grey lock turns making it an easy handle with no risk of the key snapping. I haven't noticed any extra fuel consumption on a 1000km road trip.

Easy to set up and take down & plenty of storage

As a shorter individual with 3 kids and 3 dogs who likes to travel with the whole crew it is nice to have a roof box to hold the extra supplies and luggage needed. We recently took it on our Outback to the TN mountains and it held all the dog supplies, 3 suitcases, workbags so that the kids and dogs could be comfortable. Only took my husband and I about 5 min to get it on top of the car and attach it. Once filled locking took a minute to make sure everything was in the right place so it would close properly, but once it was locked in place it was good to go. No sound or shacking, which made me confident it was not going anywhere.

Excellent for the Acura MDX

I was visiting family in California when we decided to haul back a bunch of hand me downs back to Colorado. Since we were out of trunk space, we purchased a rack system (Thule evo wingbar + rapid traverse footpack) and paired the Force XT L roof rack with it. Because of limited availability at all REI stores, we only got to compare this to a few other models, but we are glad we went with a Thule. It was incredibly easy to install onto the bars. The system was surprisingly quiet during the drive from CA to CO, but it definitely got loud when it was windy out. Very happy with this purchase,

I can’t believe it for in my roof!

I have a 2020 Subaru Outback and this XL carrier fit! Long enough to hold up to a 180 cm (or more) ski and high enough to stack bags on top of skis. Easy to install on roof rails and easy to lock and unlock. The service I got from rei in Conshohocken was outstanding.

sturdy and easy to use!

Purchased this with the expectation of issues locking the box as described in other reviews. So far, I have had absolutely no issues with the locking mechanism so long as the box isn’t over-filled. This roof box is very sturdy and withstands long trips, is aerodynamic, and best of all silent on my roof! I didn’t notice an appreciable change in my gas mileage either—score! The clamps are a quick way to mount to cross bars. I’m glad I purchased this despite some of the negative reviews. Take them with a grain of salt! I believe some of the negative reviews are because of user error.

It’s my stuff in a box!

Wow! Cool! It’s so roomy. I could fit like 300 bags of cereal in this thing. But I’ll probably end up putting camping gear in it.

The best in my humble opinion

I can load tons of cargo in this box, By doing that it leaves my suv with 100% interior space for comfortable travel. Not to mention the clean sleek design trust me you need it in your life.

It works!

We just finished a three week+ trip of 5360 miles with the Thule Force XT L roof box. It did not have a problem at high highway speeds. It did not reduce efficiency. It stayed dry in heavy rain and hail. It was easy to lock and unlock. The critics warned me and their concerns did NOT apply. This box holds a lot and is very easy to use. It is very easy to attach. I'm glad I bought it.

Very disappointing

We very excited to get this box and loved the specs. It's light, roomy, and perfect for road trips and camping with 3 kids to free up space in the car but........ The locking mechanism is just awful. Rotating the cylinder moves a thin bar that engages in the middle and at both ends. Problem is, something in the mechanism prevents it from fully engaging enough to get the cylinder fully rotated so that you can get the key out. At first we thought that a bag or a shoe was interfering with the mechanism but alas, the problem persists even when the box is empty. Really not the quality you'd expect from a $500 box.
