Great bag, but not for short to average women

Everything about the bag is excellent, but it's just marked as 'one size' on the tag. If you open up the tag, the part with the diagram of the air flow stuff on the back says 'Mens.' I'm about 5' 3.5" and in order to get the lumbar pad where it should be, I have to tighten the straps almost as much as they'll go. Unfortunately, this means the tops of the straps squeeze my neck because the top of the bag is right at the nape of my neck. As much as I love the bag I will probably exchange it... Ladies, look elsewhere. :(

Perfect small travel / work bag

This pack has the perfect balance of space vs. weight vs. organization. Just enough pockets to keep everything organized when I use it everyday for commuting and packing around my work stuff and laptop without going overboard on the number of pockets. It also works equally as well for a 3 day weekend travel bag that will fit in the overhead or under the seat on the plane, swallowing up tons of gear in the main compartment. Being that it can carry a 17-inch laptop, it is a bit taller and sticks out a bit when under the seat in front of you on a plane, so keep that in mind. Very supportive and carries loads very well. Highly recommend it.

School Backpack

My son is in 7th grade and has a crazy amount of homework, lunch, band music/instruments and so on. He needed a larger volume pack and wanted a comfortable platform for his shoulders and back. This Daypack was his choice and he loves it. Not only does it work for school, but we just took it through 9 days in Iceland. It held all his technology and accessories, his rain coat and pants, gators, snacks and gloves. Each day he had his stuff with him as needed. Didn't fit great under the airline seats, but that wasn't what we originally purchased it to do. Very happy with the pack.

Fits a 17" laptop only if it is paper thin

Excellent stylish bag, the 17" laptop pocket barely fits the dimensions for my laptop, but maybe not yours. My laptop is the Gigabyte P37XV5-SL4K2 and it is paper thin. If it were any thicker, the laptop would not fit. Currently the fit is extremely tight and takes some work to get it to zip shut. Other than that the bag looks great, has tons of other space, and is quite comfortable.

Essentially everything I needed!

Great for everyday use. I travel often and having the TSA Friendly option is great. I also commute a lot. Nearly perfect backpack for all modern needs. Enough pockets and sleek design. Only problem I have is the straps, even though they are wide, it isn't very supportive. The pressure still concentrates in the middle and doesn't spread out as much as it looks like it would. North face tried to lighten the weight by putting foam or light material inside but it would be better if it was just thicker or more supportive. It only hurts when I'm carrying a lot of stuff and heavy. Otherwise it is a nearly perfect backpack. Bottom line, I Love it!

MOST PRACTICAL AND MOST USEFUL BAG

i like the fit and finish on this bag. My black red color looks amazing. It has been used and stuffed all of the pockets (including both sides of bottle pockets) and still carry it comfortably. I think this pack can be carrying 30 lbs weight of load and still comfortable enough. The fabric itself (500D Cordura) is perfect balance between weight and durability, so i expect some resistant abrasion for my daily use. Here are some cons to be improved: 1. If only they can make wider laptop compartment on their next iteration (1/2 inch ) to accomodate more 17" laptop. I'm using EVGA SC17 (lil' bit on wide side). 2. Makes wider shoulder strap with more foam (like 5.11 Tactical Rush 24). i know, this will increase the weight of the pack, but that's the tradeoff i'm willing to take. 3. Increasing more pockets doesn't hurt so much (makes more mesh pockets on main compartment). I write this because i know i can expect more from this brand (Better packs on the future). Overall, this pack strikes excellent balance between capacity, weight, comfort, design and color, and price. FYI, this is my first time purchasing backpack from this brand (looking for another types on the future).

Phenomenal Bad

Great for long weekend road trips. Great for a carry on bag when flying. Considering how much the bag can hold, I appreciate the sturdiness in the zippers, stitching at the comfortable straps on the back. I use this bag for work/travel combos and even then there are more components than I know what to do with. The size can be deceiving, the main compartment is a lot deeper and wider than you think when you start filling it up. Along with the Duffel Bag (size small), these two make a great 1/2 combo for travel up to a week or more without having to check in a bag at the airport. Considering how much I travel, this is a fantastic advantage and money saver.

Durable bag with room for all of my gear

I needed a backpack for college. I wanted a bag with separate zip compartments for my laptop, books, writing utensils, other, and the option of tablet storage. Other important features were: non-seethrough water bottle holders, good solid back/waist straps, and a black on black color option- per Army ROTC regulations. I love the grab handles and versatility of the organization pocket. I wish they had a black logo option as I had to color mine with sharpe to comply with Army regs. And had a separate zip mesh compartment in the laptop section to stow laptop cables and power cords. Over all it's a great bag that will hopefully serve me for the next five years of collage.

The North Face never disappoints!!!

Debated on whether I should put down the money on this backpack, but boy am I glad I did. Hands down the best all-around bag that I have ever purchased. It has nice shoulder straps that take a while to break in. The laptop pocket is super convenient and protect ls the laptop well. The big pocket could be a little wider, but carries eveything you could need. The organizer pocket is big and has plentiful amount of pockets. The bottle holder pockets on the sides are very sturdy. The front pockets have nice lining to keep your fragile gear. I have gotten many compliments. I love the pack. It is well worth the money.

Survived a Motorcycle Crash, Definitely Buying Another One

Recently bought this backpack 2 weeks ago in black and pompeian red and have to say that it is of excellent quality and very spacious and comfortable for my daily work and school needs. Had the unfortunate situation of being in a motorcycle crash with this backpack and have to say I am very impressed for how well the backpack stood up when I slid with it on for approximately 10-15 feet. I am very impressed in quality and am looking forward to buying another one.
