Better than BOB - Hands Down!
Ryan the Runner Dude

I'm not typically one to write reviews, but I researched jogging strollers for months and tried out several, so I thought I would pay it forward and leave a review for this amazing stroller. First, I should say that I've tried out several jogging strollers that belong to my friends. The Bob Revolution Pro and SE, the Baby Jogger Summit X3 and several others. They're great strollers, but the Solstice is really top notch. Here's where the Solstice edges out its competition: - BY FAR the best feature is the seat and harness, which use a new technology that's not only comfortable for the baby, but SUPER easy for the parents. This was the deciding factor, among many, for me. - The storage space is about twice the size of the BOB and others - great use of space. - The material is just better, more sturdy and looks solid. Also, it uses magnets where BOB and others use velcro. Genius. - One hand recline. Just ask parents who've tried to recline a sleeping baby with two hands in their BOB. No more sleepy baby. - One hand fold that locks easily and has the option to stand up or to stay folded on its wheels. - The switch between the swivel and fixed wheel is super easy as opposed to the BOB where you risk pinching or losing a finger. To be fair, here's what I wish the Solstice did better... - There's no handbrake. I think handbrakes are sort of pointless as I run on hills and holding the stroller is just as easy as pulling the handbrake, but I suppose it's nice to have. - I wish there was a button to switch from swivel to fixed wheel that I could access on the handlebar. Nobody makes this, so I can't fault Burley. - That's it. If you're undecided between BOB and some of the other top brands, go with Burley. Check it out at REI and I guarantee you'll agree with me.

The right stuff, but design flaws...

I've had this stroller for a few weeks, and just returned it today. Frame is solid. Being able to lock the front wheel with your foot is a nice feature that I have not seen elsewhere. Cargo space underneath is far superior to bob, Thule, and others we saw. Seems like a taller child will be more comfortable given relatively great head room. Loading and unloading a child is made easy relative to other models due to the stiff child harness, though this comes at a small cost to ease of adjustment. It is also nice that the stroller collapses neatly with one hand via the handle bar. Here are the issues: Minor - the brake mechanism is operated by a smallish foot pedal next to the right wheel, and after pressing, the stroller (at times) needed to be giggled back and forth to seat it properly. It would be nicer if the brake was just a bar that stretched the gap between the wheels, or larger more central pedal. Minor - The handle bar extension is mediocre. Fully extended the bar sits barely higher than a standard bob revolution. What's the point? Perhaps at the low end it accommodates shorter people more effectively than other models, but I'm 6'5" and my wife is 6', so we took a bit of a comfort gamble because of the benefits listed above. MAJOR - The handle bar locking mechanism is garbage. After only a few times out (some running and just general out and about) the handle would start to slide back down. The locking mechanism is two plastic levers that hold the bar in place with lateral pressure. They appear to wear quickly and become ineffective at holding the handle bar in place. This mechanism needs to be rethought... If these issues get addressed, this stroller will be awesome.

Love the Burley!

Although our baby is only one-month old, the Burley has been so amazing in every way. It is mobile through any type of terrain, easily packable in our car and provides comfort to our child as she falls soundly asleep each time. Living in Oregon, the rain cover provides the perfect protection from the elements, allowing her to remain dry with every trip. We are so happy we have our Burley and cannot image any other stroller.

Super Stroller

This is my second stroller purchase , my daughter outgrew her old one after 9 months. I have had this stroller for about 3 months. And i strongly recommend it. This is a very good quality stroller, it is great on a terrain. It is so easy to maneuver compared to other strollers. My baby loves it. It is comfortable and the harness is so easy to use. I love the shade it blocks the wind when we go jogging . I also purchased the handle bar storage pouch and it fits all drink sizes, it comes in handy , I use the zippered pocket for my cell. Con's: a little heavy, really wide (It is a big stroller) BUT it does fit in my Versa hatchback. Pro's:Easy to maneuver, comes assembled(plus for me), love the shade, huge basket for storage, reclinable seat, baby will fit in it for years, Lots of room!! If you are out there looking for the ultimate jogging stroller this is it (: You will get you money's worth

Great jogging stroller

I never thought a jogging stroller was a necessity but 3 kids later I realize it is. I did research, read reviews and many preferred this brand to a BOB. I am extremely pleased with it especially it being a factory second. It has a minor defect but the pros outweight the cosmetic damage. Its super spacious, easy to run with and just great looking!

Great stroller

The solstice is a great stroller. They thought of a lot of great details, like the easy front wheel lockout, simple fold down, easy to use parking brake. The stroller rolls really really smoothly and absorbs road bumps easily. I have a newborn, so I need to use the car seat attachment. I wish that they had specific accessories for the popular car seat systems. The adaptor attaches to the stroller securely, but the car seat is held in by a strap. It's secure enough, but less convenient than if my seat could click into a bracket. That's the only negative, though, and it won't be an issue once my son gets big enough to ride in the stroller seat.

Decent stroller

The stroller itself moves smoothly and is super easy to set up and take down. My only complaint, and I'll need to call the company about, is the fact that the carriage part that hold my daughter broke. My daughter is 20 lbs and it's brand new. I got it two months ago, so I assume it's a random factory defect. Specially the metal bits that keep the carriage part in place just snapped off. Hopefully it's a super easy fix. Other than that, it's a fantastic stroller.

LOVE this stroller!

This is an amazing jogging stroller. Super easy to maneuver and your kiddo has an awesome ride (doesn't sit back in a cage like in other jogging strollers). It's easy to transport and has lots of space. The only thing that would make it absolutely perfect is if it had an activity tray. They do sell snack and cup holders that go on the sides but I like the one that goes in front like a tray (so that my kiddo can sit straight up without being strapped in for slow walks where she's snacking). I keep checking accessories just in case they come out with one. For any expecting mama who is considering this -- get this sucker for your all in one stroller!!

Off Road Ability

Got this specifically for the off road capability on trails near my house. These are rough tracks that chewed through my last stroller. Have been through mud, snow, up and down hills and through scrub. In a word, it's a Tank. The canopy actually keeps the sun off my toddlers face, with other strollers I have had to walk them backwards into the sun because the canopies are too small. Not so with the Solstice. The accessories have been great too, particularly the weather shield for when it gets cold and windy, it fits just right to keep the breeze out and has done the job near sub zero. This stroller goes fine on the sidewalk and in the shops too.

Third stroller's the (AWESOME) charm

After 2 1/2 months of ownership, it's time for the review! I'm 5'8 and my fiance is 6'4. While I'm not really tall enough for it to be problematic with strollers, my fiance was CONSTANTLY kicking the basket & frame on our Baby Jogger strollers & our Schwinn jogging stroller, even when the handlebars were all the way up. Also, our son is 2 years 4 months old and is already over 3 feet tall. His head was hitting the canopies in all our other strollers and he was just about out of foot room. We went to REI to investigate our options and I had never even heard of Burley before, even having spent 5 months pouring over jogging stroller research & specs. While I was busy complaining about how my son couldn't even GET his head under the canopy of the BOB (not joking), my fiance took it upon himself to strap our son into some random green stroller in the corner and start pushing it around the store. All I hear is, "Honey, we both fit!!! Look how awesome this thing is!!!" Now, I'm a woman, normally I take a man's opinion on strollers with a grain of salt, but when you see THAT look of sheer happiness & excitement on your fiance's face, you know you better check it out! After 3 hours of testing, checking, measuring, question asking, and strolling around the store, we were 110% sold. The telescoping handlebar, the INSANELY GIGANTIC & EASILY REACHABLE basket which our special needs, blind Toy Pomeranian happily/proudly rides in, the comfortable seat, waterproof fabrics (tested that living in Seattle for 4 months), durable & well built aluminum frame, one-handed recline mechanism, magnetic closures for the peekaboo window, appropriately sized wrist strap that doesn't dangle 5 feet in the wind, rubberized foot area that is SO easy to wipe down, I could go on... The features are endless. My future mother-in-law calls this the Mercedes! And that's exactly what it is! It's the Mercedes Benz of jogging strollers and nothing else even comes CLOSE. It is a bit big & bulky, but so is every other jogging stroller in existence, and the size helps you navigate over any terrain you can imagine! I've taken this thing from shopping malls in Los Angeles to mountain hiking in Washington and it's simply the best! if you want a stroller that will last your family years & years, this is for you! THANK YOU BURLEY!

Best option available

We've kicked around the idea of upgrading our stroller for a long time. Everybody of course says the BOB is the way to go, but when compared side by side the Burley is much better in my opinion for our use. Much better gear basket for use in trips in the city and even for tossing a strider bike in for those walks that your toddler wants to ride a little. The adjustable handle, the better wheel lock and wheel truing mechanism really make this thing great. We got the handlebar console which I wish was just included. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the first one we got had an issue with the front wheel, but REI is so good with exchanges it wasn't a problem.

Well Done Burley…Well Done Indeed

We had gone back and forth on purchasing a jogging stroller for a number of months. A few weeks back we went to REI to “take a look” – no intention of buying. Well, we bought and we are happy we did. - The ability to fold/unfold with one hand is genius. - The S.I.T. seating is awesome and makes it super easy to get our son in and out. - Overall build seems sturdy and the ride is super smooth whether you’re walking or jogging - The front wheel is easy to lock and easy to keep true - For its size I feel like it’s pretty streamlined; good design - The adjustable canopy is a nice touch - Plenty of cargo space (see photo for proof) We had considered a Bob, and tried one out at REI, but after testing the Solstice the decision was easy. Needless to say we are very happy with the purchase. Our son enjoys riding in it and my wife has proudly declared it the “Mercedes of Strollers”.
