I bought my Momentum from the REI here in Anchorage, and for the money, it's an excellent harness. The quick adjustment buckles make dialing in the fit when I gear up fast and easy. The padding in the legs is comfy, and I don't have any complaints about the waist padding (though my little love handles may have something to do with that). The gear loops are placed and sized for pretty intuitive use, and set far enough back to keep your lap area uncluttered. Overall, an excellent buy for a money conscious gym climber, or a beginner looking to get into climbing without breaking the bank.
I'm new to rock climbing - just joined a local gym over a month ago and have been going 2-3 times/week. I was looking for a basic harness that would be good for top rope climbing in the gym, but that I could also use outside for if/when I transition to outdoor climbing. This harness seems to fit the bill. I used it today and it was indeed very comfortable. A word of caution - the harness does run small. I'm 5'-4", 135 lbs, 30" waist. I'm usually a small (or more often, XS) but I found the small too tight. The Medium was perfect. Also, the description indicates the size XS only has 2 gear loops but there are still (4) loops.
Have been using this for over a month at my local gym. Leg and waist loops are padded and harness has great fit overall (I'm tall and skinny). Leg straps don't slide up, and waist strap is easy to tighten and loosen, but once set stays locked. I've worn this for 3-6 hours at a time and have no complaints.
I bought this in Denver about 2 months ago. So far i've only climbed with it in the gym, but it is very comfortable. The sizing was a little difficult. I'm 5'-10", 170lb. Initially the guy at REI recommended a medium. It was difficult to pull over my hips but then it seemed to fit, but the gear loop in the back wasn't centered. I decided to go with the large. Glad I did. I love it.
The low price of this harness relative to other options makes it a solid purchase. On the plus side, the leg loops are comfortable, do not easily tangle and the racking loops facilitate easy access to gear. However, the waistband has insufficient back support for hanging belays and the waistband opening does not mesh well. All-in-all, it is a decent cragging harness but a poor choice for extended forays.
I've had this harness for a year and I love it! I've used it extensively for sport climbing. There isn't enough space on the gear loops for a trad rack but it can handle any sport climbing situation including multipitch. The simple waist loop mechanism makes it pretty much impossible to not double back. The waist and leg loops are quick and easy to cinch down.
To start, I'm a women, but chose to buy this men's harness because I thought it fit better and was more comfortable. This is the first harness I've owned and overall I like it. It's comfortable for the most part and keeps me safe. Two downsides 1) the "buckle" for the waist band is hard to loosen, harder than any other harness I tried on but I accepted it because I still preferred it over the others and 2) the leg straps sometimes get caught up in each other when I walk. Are there better harnesses out there? Probably, but this was a good, affordable option to get me started
This harness is awesome! Such a great price with so much value. It's comfy and easy to adjust, what more could you ask for?
I've been repelling for years and I must say this is the most comfortable climbing harness I have ever owned. Very secure and fits well without being too cumbersome. This is a must have item.
As a new climber I might not be sending it like Chris Sharma but I am hangdoging enough to say that so far, this harness is comfortable enough to where there isn't any pain or discomfort. Also, I like the extra features; haul loop, waist loops, etc. It gives me room to grow all at a great price.
