Worth the price and saves on weight
I traded in the store brand for this rain cover because this cover is 1/2 the weight and only a few dollars more. When you are hiking long distances every ounce counts and this was an area I could cut weight without sacrificing protection. I was impressed at how small the cover packed down to. An added bonus is the logo is reflective for visibility late at night. Covers any pack very easily dries quickly after use. I had this cover on throughout a 2 hour hard rain and even covered my pack overnight in a moderate rain. The cover provided protection as advertised. I'm glad I upgraded to this pack cover and cut weight.
Fits perfectly, works well
I bought the Osprey cover after trying the Sea to Summit Ultrasill cover, which was too small and never properly fit my pack. I have an old Ariel 65 that I’ve taken all over the world for 3 years. The Osprey rain cover fits super snuggly, and stayed on even in hollowing winds crossing a mountain ridge on a two day trips. It keeps my bag dry—as dry as a rain cover can. My only complaint is that it fits so well it’s tough to get off for quick access to your gear. However I ended up buying a second one that I use to wrap my bag up when I fly—that one has a few holes now, but my hiking one has survived half a dozen backcountry trips without any damage.
Garbage Bag Be Gone!
Remember all the times you thought it would be okay to just use a garbage bag to save your pack on a rainy adventure? It got messy, didn't it? I know... you're rough, tough, and resourceful like me, and don't need - nay, want - any fancy, sleek tech to do something that your plastic garbage bag can do. But this little bag cover doesn't get snagged on branches and spring a leak... this little bag cover doesn't allow water to pool in weird places and splash on you or gear... this little bag cover is reusable for years to come (and hey, if the first two reasons to get this weren't enough, saving the planet, should be!) Anyway, save yourself the hassle and buy the Raincover... you won't regret it.
Fantastic product. Fit better than expected.
I bought an osprey pack last year. I purchased a generic raincover and was very unimpressed. After receiving my REI dividend, I decided to purchase the osprey brand raincover and could not be happier with its performance. It fit better than expected and was approximately a third of the weight. Plus instead of just being water resistant, it is nearly water proof. After a three hour hike in pouring rain, my pack and its contents were completely dry.
Highly recommend!
Keeps pack dry in the rain. Easy to adjust or tie off/tuck in for smaller packs (I use over a 40L and have space to tuck it around bulky items strapped to the outside of my pack). It is small enough that I always keep it somewhere in my bag, even if I don't expect rain. It goes unnoticed until I need it, which is ideal! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a cover. I would buy it again if I lost or somehow ruined mine (the material is thin, but with careful use I have never worried it would rip). I've had the same one for a few years now, use it every summer, and it still looks new.
Needs reinforecement
It's truly an ultralight, but I wish they'd sacrifice just a hair of that status to reinforce the bottom. Mine got shredded right away while backpacking in the Sierras. Granted, it's rough country up there, but a cover needs to be durable on the bottom for the inevitable rest between slogs up the mountain.
Great rain cover
Great quality rain cover, kept my gear completely dry on a day in heavy rain. Fit perfectly on my fully loaded ospray atmos 65 ag. The seams are all taped really well and the shock cord assures it sinches tight to the bag. Lightweight and packs small
Waterproof
Packs up very small. I have an Osprey Aura 65 AG and the large rain cover fits perfectly. Goes on quickly which is helpful in a sudden downpour. Very waterproof and lightweight.
Osprey Atmos AG 65
Used this rain cover on my Osprey Atmos AG 65 pack during a backpacking trip in the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan. It rained in biblical proportions. I've never seen so much rain until that day. I had thousands of dollars of camera equipment stored in my pack that I was already writing off. This rain cover saved the day and kept everything perfectly dry! If I could rate this thing 6 stars, I would.
A dry pack is a happy pack
This raincover works great with my Osprey Farpoint 55L! I've even used it with the day pack and it still works fine (obviously very baggy, but functions well.)
