Not correct weight...

Says on description that the medium size weights 2.8 on website, and 2.9 oz on the packaging -- When I weigh the product myself the ACTUAL weight is 3.4 oz... quite a bit of a difference

There's not a lot to say about a pack cover: it does keep my pack as dry as any pack cover can. However, I have very mixed feelings about this one. They got one small detail really right: the cord loops at the bottom that slip onto your hipbelt do an excellent job of keeping the bottom of your pack wrapped. I really like the idea. But, it is a minor improvement over other covers. The blew a much bigger detail. They tried to design this to keep the top compartment fully wrapped. Most covers "outline" the top curve of the pack, stopping at the to of the frame. Osprey tried to "box" the top of the pack (similar to the footbox of a sleeping bag), to provide more coverage of the lid and minimize the possibility of the cover sliding off the top. They also added a conceptually-smart buckle that allows you to secure the two sides behind the shoulder straps. Unfortuately, the top "box" interferes with the load lifters (totally wrecking the interplay of load lifters with the rest of the suspension - an annoyance with most packs, a total show-stopper with the AG (antigravity) packs where that interplay is critical. And, if you snap the buckle, it eliminates the separation between the shoulder straps, which throws the fit off even worse. I used mine once in a full day of rain, with my Atmos 50 AG, and on the way home from the trip stopped at my local outfitter and replaced it with a plain-vanilla Outdoor Research cover (similar to the REI-brand covers), which work much better.

GREAT SNUG FIT

Great snug fit, definitely waterproof, and has a snap clip around the upper part of the straps to make sure it stays in place. I have a Scarab 32 liter volume hiking backpack, and this cover fits, with extra space, but I fold it on top of the backpack. I am also a photographer, so my tripod fits vertically up out of the outer pocket, up to the height of my head, and this cover is still big enough to cover my bag and tripod. I used a rain cover hiking up the side of a waterfall in Yosemite and the bag stayed completely dry. Another helpful idea is that big hiking hats can easily fit and stay simply placed under the cover. YOU NEED TO BUY ONE.

Perfect Fit!

I bought this to use on my Osprey Atmos AG 50-liter pack and it fits perfectly! The buckle at the top (which I thread under the load lifters and over the shoulder straps on that little triangular space left in the) did not interfere weigh the load lifters as another reviewer said. It's easiest to fit on the pack of you got the top first, then the bottom. And remove the bottom first when taking it off. which leads me to my only complaint: if I want to stop and get anything out of my pack (which is accessed through the top) I have to take the whole thing off. It fits tightly enough over the full pack that I can't get the top open without removing the whole thing.

Kept it all dry

I used this for my 24L pack since I was in between the 20L and 30L size difference, as suggested by the REI staff. Glad I went with the 30L, as it felt more secure on my pack than my friend’s 20L cover on her 22L pack. One of the most important differences I noticed is the 30L has two loops at the bottom that you pull your waist straps through, which kept my cover secure at all times. Cover was great in torrential downpours and even just for keeping my bag dry from dewy mornings in the tent while camping. Would buy again.

Not waterproof

I bought this raincover for my Osprey Evo backpack and went snowshoeing when it was lightly snowing. I noticed my pack was a bit damp afterwards and thought maybe I didn't cinch the cover over it well enough. I just put the pack with rain cover under the shower (well protected this time) to test it and the rain cover soaked through entirely. I don't know if mine is defective since other reviewers don't seem to have this problem but I'm definitely returning it.

Not very durable

Not recommended for any hiking off of the main trail. I took it on a hike 15 miles round trip, and it had holes in it halfway through. It was returned. BTW, REI's warranty does not cover wear holes in pack covers, but have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so say those magic words.

Solid, trusty pack cover

I used a size medium on my REI Flash 45 backpack (womens) on a section hike recently. I had to use it at least 5-7 times, and once in a complete downpour. It kept my pack very dry and I had zero issues the whole trip. Love this cover!

Kept my pack and everything in it bone dry

We were on a backpacking trip in Milford Sound when we got hit with some torrential rains. Everything on my body was soaked through and we were in rain for 6 hours straight. I expected my pack to be socked through as well but everything in my bag was bone dry. Can't say the same for my husbands pack. Highly suggest this is you have an osprey bag. Fits like a glove.

Light Weight Rain Cover

Recently purchased this as a cover for the Skimmer 30 bag. While it's a quality cover the recommended medium size is just to large for the 30 bag. Will need to switch out to a size small.

Great way to keep contents dry

A group of us were trying to get up the Highland Mary trail when a storm began. It was a fairly heavy and steady down pour with hail. Others in the group had wet sleeping bags and tents, not us. Very pleased with the product, but disappointed with Osprey for no longer making the rain cover an integrated and included item as they used to.
