Sizing notes

Inseam varies depending on style. Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay for casual wear These are incredibly comfortable and I really wanted to like them, but they fell short for what I wanted. I bought these to go on long day hikes or backpacking trips. They're great at first, but as soon as you start sweating, they just retain it. I'll still wear these on casual day hikes or around town though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Different but Good I have a pair of these from a previous season in which I love the fabric and fit. These are a bit different. Some of you may see the same titled shorts but notice that the waist band on one is wider than the other. The wider waist band has material that is similar to the older season, but it is a bit....thicker than previous season. The one with the small waist band is much thicker than both and more like the Active Mesh Bra. I'm not saying one is better than the other, it all depends on what you are looking for. I had to get a size bigger in this than my previous season (XS, with room to spare). I got a small), and I am also purchasing a medium to see how they fit compared to the small. I think these will be cool and nice to wear just around the house/to bed, and they feel very good on the skin. I may add more updates as I use them more. Definitely worth the investment and expect them to last per the Patagonia name. Rating as s 4 star just because I liked the older seasons fabric better, otherwise it's a 5 star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for long runs I just got these for running a (short) ultra and they passed the test with flying colors. They stayed put and stayed comfortable through long distance, rain, sweat, and some water crossings. Dried quickly and were chafe-free. I'm usually a small and ended up a medium in these. Consider sizing up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the resolution for chafing I was hoping for Bought these with with the hopes that boy shorts would eliminate chafing. I bought the size I usually wear (Medium) and they ran a little small and the shorts part wasn't long enough to reduce chafing on my inner thighs. Considering purchasing a larger size in the future to see if that will resolve the issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy transition hike to swim Wore these under shorts for hike and then swim in rivers and waterfalls. So comfortable. Don't ride up. Quick dry. Also great for sleeping. Nice and cool. Stretchy. Great purchase!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Comfortable when sweaty but presents other problem These were comfortable when I was dripping in sweat, which is what I wanted. But there were unexpected issues. The legs constantly rolled up, so I looked like I had bands around my thighs and had to roll them down periodically. Pantyliners do not stick to this fabric whatsoever. The fabric was quite thick, so these are not as quickdry as the Arcteryx boyshorts, which are my new favorite!

Do they cover your whole butt, or just three quarters of it? I'm looking for some boyshorts with full coverage but that's pretty hard to find.

Asked by: rafting grrl
No, they do not cover your whole bum. I do use these for rafting, however. I have lots of quick dry underwear. I bought two pairs of these years ago in a medium (I agree with sizing up); they have lasted extremely well. They are my favorites because they are so soft and stretchy, and no pantilines.
