Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Just what I was looking for.
Storage space is a concern, so I need my gear to be Light, compact and effective. This jacket packs down into its own pocket, works as a windbreaker and keeps me very warm, actually I am amazed how warm, considering how light it is. I wear it by its self and use it for layering. It is small enough to keep in a saddlebag without even noticing it is there, 10x6x3 when packed in its own pocket and 4x5x3 when compressed. I plan to keep this one for a while; it is exactly what I was looking for, at a great price too. Thanks REI!

Warm enough however...
I'm 5'11, 190 lbs, athletic build, usually wear a large for jackets. It's warm enough for 650 fill, it's snug in the arms and tight around the wrist (too tight) and fits my shoulders with a bit of space, I would have kept it but there's no draw cord at the bottom around the waist, so cold air can come up and it's not slim down the length of the mid section so it looks fat like a pillow. (The picture of the model has his hand pressed against it so it doesn't look puffed out. If there was a draw cord that would solve the problem and would look more like a jacket. I went with Marmot Zeus on sale purchased through REI. Please REI put a simple draw cord around the waist and I will be a future buyer.

Strong, warm, dry, and affordable.

I trust all of my REI brand gear so it was a very easy choice to buy this jacket. So far I am extremely happy with it. Through a very cold and snow winter in Western North Carolina this jacket kept me warm and dry, even when working as a ski patroller in under 20 degree conditions with this as my only elemental protection. The little REI Co-op tag started to separate on the back side but I was pretty hard on the jacket this year. Other than the tag there has been no issues. I also went went climbing in this jacket and it held up great against the rocks. For the price I'm not scared to be active in this jacket like I would be in a jacket that is $200+.

Very light, but still warm

Just got this jacket a few days ago and have been wearing this around in about 35 degree weather. Took it up with me to a trip in the mountains where I'd be doing some hiking and whatnot. All I had underneath was either a sweatshirt or a flannel and t-shirt, but with the jacket on I was completely warm. The great part about this jacket is that it's super lightweight and easily packable. When hiking if I got a little warm, I could roll the jacket up and fit it into my drink holder on the side of my backpack. Has worked well for me, hope it holds up! I'd give it 4 stars because you can't tighten it at the waist, but I gave it 5 because of the great price!

Toasty Smore

Bought the jacket the night before my first backpacking trip to Yellowstone. It was 15°-18° that first night and my sleeping bag zipper snagged on my sleeping bag. I was too tired to fix it so I slept that night with my chest exposed layered with my fleece jacket, REI midweight base layer and a wool shirt and... hardly felt cold! This jacket saved me that first night and it's really light, packs well. Giving it 5 stars because I used and abused this jacket over the next 7 days on my trip (durability) and the price point is very competitive and comparable to other puff jackets. I really have no complaints. I'm a happy hiker!

Nice for price

Like the jacket, but won't be a favorite. Missing a few features. I have a beard, a zipper garage would be nice because the zipper catches on beard. Would also like to have a Napoleon pocket for my smart phone. Also a draw string at the bottom hem would be nice to seal off the cold. But I understand why those features aren't there, to keep the price down. Also, as with all REI apparel, this is cut small. Very tight in the shoulders. I had to go up a size to get the proper fit in the shoulders. Now the body of the jacket is too big. I look like I'm wearing a sleeping bag. Still may return it......... But the price is too nice to lose it.

Not disappointed but not impressed

I purchased the jacket online on sale for $69. If that is all the money I had for a jacket I would be happy for it. The deal breaker for me was a lack of pockets. I always have keys, cellphone and possibly more on me. I like inside pockets too. This jacket only has the two outside pockets. Also there is no cinch for the bottom so in cold windy days you are going to get the wind coming up the jacket. Fortunately for me I live in NC so our winters are mile and I won't need a jacket for temps much below 25F. I returned this and paid a little more for the Stratacloud and am very pleased with it. I has all the features missing from this and better insulation.

Featherless

Bought a little over a year ago for the nightly temperature drops in Colorado. I'm not very pleased with this coat. The feathers seem to all have disappeared, and now my coat is basically just a lining (which is not waterproof, so it's basically useless). I would return it if my year wasn't up. As another person commented, the fit is awkward. I had to get a Large (everything else I wear is a Medium) because the Medium was too small for my shoulders (full disclosure, I do have broad shoulders, but it hasn't affected any of my other jacket purchases from Marmot or North Face). Now that the puffiness is gone it looks like I'm wearing a tarp. So it sits in my car in case I break down.

Down warmth at the perfect price

At 650-fill, it's not the warmest down jacket out there, but with the incredible price, it deserves 5 stars. Finally, a down jacket that everyone can afford! I wore it today in 38F weather with a baselayer underneath and was warm with no issues. I think I'll need another layer in colder weather. I'll be wearing this as an insulating layer during the colder winter months. Love the lightweight compressibility. Sizing is true-to-size.

Affordable Light Weight Down Jacket

I am very happy with this product. I purchased it on clearance and cannot think of an equivalent product for the price and quality. I can wear it without a long-sleeve base layer down to 25 degrees F. It does wick away light rain and snow precipitation quite well. I have yet to take it backpacking, however, its maiden voyage will be on the Ice Age Trail in northern Wisconsin next weekend (forecast: 17/7 (high/low)). It should be an excellent insulation layer. My only constructive criticism is that I am a 5'8", 150lbs male and the jacket is a little tight around the hips for me. The rest of the dimensions are spot on. I would recommend this product to others. Thanks, REI!
