How to Choose Carabiners

This product is not available. Good news: we have a newer version.
The rugged Petzl Djinn Straight Gate Carabiner is a great choice for the bolt end of a quickdraw. It's built tough to endure frequent use at the climbing crag.

Petzl biners take an absolute beating and still function beautifully. They're my go-to choice for any caving equipment. For personal tethers (i.e. "cowstails"), the Djinn is far superior to other straight gate biners (including the Spirit) because it has a noticably wider jaw opening. The wide jaw allows the biner to be easily connected across both ears of a fusion knot or an 8-with-ears knots... even with chunky 11mm rope. More importantly, it makes the biner more user-friendly when detaching it from an anchor knot. This makes negotiating tricky vertical work, like free-hanging rebelays, far more efficient (especially when you only have one had free).
