Caution: they break easily
Purchased two pairs of these in past year. Both have broken with minimal use. Can’t repair and no $ back or replacement from REI.
Don't buy -- they break on their own
A little history: Prior to buying the Suncloud Mayor I had owned the Suncloud Portals which I really liked. Despite wearing the Portal model daily for years, including on hikes and bike rides, they lasted until I accidentally left them at a bar never to be seen again. REI stopped selling the Portals and so I bought the Mayor sunglasses.... despite their lenses, which offered superb clarity, 2 stars is the most I can rate these glasses for two reasons: 1. They were slightly wide for my head, and thus I couldn't put raise them up out of the way whenever I wanted to read my phone in the sun, or walk indoors into a shop. And thus, they were not my daily glasses. 2. After a mere 3 1/2 months of infrequent use, out of the blue the arm broke off at the hinge. And when I say out of the blue I mean this: I was wearing my sunglasses to drive to a pool hall; when I got there I put the glasses in their soft case and put it in my front jeans pocket (these are loose jeans and there was tons of room in the pocket); after playing some pool I walked outside, pulled the case from my pocket, and then as I started to pull the glasses out of the case I noticed that the arm had snapped off. This is clearly a defect in their product (see the other reviews here and you'll see that plenty of others have reported the same problem). To add insult to injury when I tried to return them to REI, REI said that they don't replace/refund items due to abuse or normal wear and tear and they classified this as normal wear and tear? Really??? I've had the glasses for under 4 months, and of that time I've probably worn them for all of 1 month. The glasses were in pristine condition (no scratches on the lenses, the arms, or anything), but the arm just snaps off on its own out of the blue and they call that normal wear and tear? REI, what has happened to you standing behind the products that you sell!!!
Broke the first week
Sunglasses usually last me for years. These broke within a few days at the hinge which is made of cheap plastic.
Lens coating flaking off after a few months
I'm extremely gentle on my gear. I have sunglasses from other brands that look like new after ten years. These glasses look awful after six months. After two or three months I took them out of their cloth case and the lens coatings were flaking off on both sides of both lenses. They were great for the first month or two.
Suncloud Mayor
I was looking for a backup to my Oakley Holbrook Mix. Fairly priced at $50, it has a comfortable fit, looks good and is lightweight. Overall, I prefer Oakley's lens quality, this is a pretty good sunglasses for the price.
Sturdy and Polarized
Bought these glasses a couple months ago and they have stood the test of time. I have used them hiking, backpacking, driving, and just being in the water.
Broke quickly
I liked them the lens seemed high quality. However, the plastic broke at the hinge in less than 6 months. I will not be buying again.
Fits great looks awesome
I've liked these so much I bought a couple pair. I don't go anywhere outdoors without these
great polarized sunglasses for the price
purchased about 3 weeks ago to replace the pair I donated to the river while canoeing
Great price and value!!
These polarized sunglasses are priced right at $49. They fit my needs perfectly!
