Faux Fur Trim -Ruined almost immediately!
I recently purchased this coat for my very picky daughter. She LOVES the color and te faux fur trim. She wore this coat ONLY 2 times before the faux fur trim was ruined! This coat was worn 1 time for general wear. Then it was worn a 2nd time to play in the snow. When she came inside her coat was very wet. Knowing she wanted to go out again after dinner, we wanted to dry the coat out. BEFORE doing anything, I checked the tags! it specifically states that the faux fur trim can be "tumble dry low". When it came out of the dryer if looked TERRIBLE!!! completely matted into something that cannot be repaired!
Zipper fabric puffs and catches/rips easily
I love Columbia products but this jacket is just bad enough to leave a review. After 1 wash, the fabric under the zipper puffed up and started getting caught caught in the zipper. That fabric is thin and rips easily so it ripped. Now I have to help my child zip/unzip since it is difficult to hold and pull the zipper in a way to avoid the fabric that is prone to being caught. If other adults don't know the nuance of this jacket, they have trouble too. I compared fabrics of other jackets we have and this is definitely a design flaw. I purchased this jacket in Jan 2020 so maybe they changed something since then. I may try the warranty but since you have to pay for shipping back to Portland with tracking and follow-up (possibly calling and being on hold for a long time), it may not be worth the hassle.
My daughter won't take it off. Great jacket!
Purchased this jacket yesterday, it was the only one that met the color and fur trim requirements. It was a HIT!!!! Jacket is toasty warm, fleece lined pockets that no one wants to take their hands out of, jacket looks great, beautiful style, attractive color and she loves the faux trim. Note, runs a little small (my daughter is a tall 8 and the medium jacket fits well).

Great winter coat for tweens!
Nicely made winter coat for upcoming cold weather. Haven't worn it yet, but seems very warm. We purchased the large to allow room for thicker shirts underneath and growth. A little big but still good, a medium would have probably been perfect but may have outgrown too fast. My daughter is a petite 6th grader (75 lbs, 5' tall) and wanted a more grown up looking winter coat but can't fit into women's yet. So many of the kids coats are bright colors/prints and look too young for middle school. This was perfect and exactly what she was looking for. Originally she planned on removing the fur but now is thinking of keeping it on!
Great and stylish jacket
I ordered this jacket in a size 14 for my 11 year old daughter. She typically wears a 12 and the 14 fit perfectly. I was expecting it to be a little big so she could wear it longer. This is not a negative, just something to know. It is so stylish. A great length and I love the way it comes in at the waist. There are two features that my daughter feels would improve the jacket. First, there is no inside pocket. An inside pocket would be nice for a phone, wallet, etc. Also, the adult jackets have built in thumb holes. This would have been a great feature. Overall, I would highly recommend buying this jacket.
exactly what I thought it would be
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is stylish, well made, warm, and fits well. I ordered this for my 4 1/2 year old. I ordered it a little big to ensure use throughout the entire winter and it fit exactly as I hoped. She is an average sized child a little on the tall side. She is just entering 6/6X clothing size. The quality seems good just like other Columbia jackets the family has. On an upper 40's day, she claimed she was a little warm so I have no doubt this will keep her warm as we come into true winter weather. I spend a little extra and only buy one good, all-purpose coat for the season. I'm very pleased with my choice.
Winter
I bought this coat for both of my girls. They are in a 6/6x right now so I got a 7. I would say it is true to the size as it will fit well come next fall and winter. They have been wearing it since early spring and have said it is really warm. They both really love that it looks just like mommys coat!
A perfect casual yet elegant outfit for those cold nights

She uses it for school and for play outdoors. Although is very warm and puffy it does not occupy a lot of space in our luggage when we travel. Totally recommended!
