Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool vintage feeling light This is a pretty cool light. It has a metal body and not plastic. The finish is a black copper finish that looks really nice. The whole design has this Bad A vintage design and feel. It is heavy but I do not feel this is bad. It feels more substantial. I love the whole look. The light is good, the pull out was a little stiff at first but after using it a few times, it smoothed out just fine. This makes a rockin gift.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Retro Lamp is pretty cool First, I dig the rechargeable aspect, either by plugging into the wall, your laptop or my Goal Zero solar panel for extended river float trips. Second, it's metal and well built - most lanterns are plastic. Third, you can extend the light cone so it goes from flashlight mode to lantern mode and you can stand it up, lay it down or tilt it. You can also plug in your phone for some juice though I have not done that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canyon Latern the design and ruggedness is amazing. Love the retro, "real" metal . Truly an amazing design. Will use inside cabin and outside long term camping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Barebones Canyon lantern When a great , retro lantern is produced I'M ON IT ! I am queer for great lamps ! The Canyon by Barebones has a great fit and finish with potentially fine technology inside. I am greatly disappointed in it's performance. After purchasing this lantern and the Forrest model for a friend , we quickly found the batteries or charging systems are NOT of poor quality, not holdind/taking a charge. A shame , yes. (I have over 370 lanterns :-* yes , it's a certain sickness). They are going back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In love I bought the black one and I'm obsessed with this light. Such a great look to it and also the lens pulls out and extends into a flashlight. We hung it by the handle at the top of our tent and it lit the tent nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Light I think it's really intuitive to travel somewhere with this as a flashlight, and when you stop, to create the lantern to place down somewhere while you work. The charging usb cable is squeezed into the bottom of the lamp, and if one were concerned about it being exposed, a piece of electrical tape would be an ideal solution. Lumen-wise, i think they dialed in the scale of brightness really well! I don't think anyone will have issues with the amount of light the Canyon produces. We'll be staying in our 10'x14' tent for about 3 weeks in Bend OR while we look for a place to live, and this should prove handy. Honestly I just want to have it right next to me for every task :) (Btw if you have REI's dividend program, it makes the price of this lower than elsewhere).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looked sturdy, but did not work. I bought this online. It looked very sturdy. Right out of the box it did not work. I tried charging it for several hours. It did not work. I took it back to the local REI store. Of course, REI was great about exchange/refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beautiful lantern, BUT the battery.... Barebones should be congratulated on building a beautiful product. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is top notch. Unfortunately, you can not the battery discharge or it damages the battery. SO... if you do not periodically charge the batteries when you are storing it, you will have problems/possible permanent damage.

What is the actual package weight? Cause that metal outfit looks like more than 15 oz.

Asked by: Shihtai Yang
The Canyon Lantern will weigh 1.8 pounds on its own. The packaged weight with everything included is 3.5 pounds. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will update the information on REI.com.
