Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm 5-5 and these are perfect! These poles are great. They are light and collapsible so easily packed during the hike if I want to switch to one or zero poles. Great handles. It's like having 4 legs to walk with poles, super helpful on steep or rough terrain. I would like to find this exact style in a larger size for my husband.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and simple I haven't had a chance to use these poles yet either for skiing or trekking, so I don't know how strong they are, but so far I love them--better than the adult version that I bought last year. They are simple and lightweight, and assuming they don't fold under the first pole plant, they will become my go-to pole for everything. I bought them for myself, a 5'6" adult, and they are plenty long enough with some to spare. Good inexpensive alternative for shorter adults.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for my hike!!! I got these because they were the cheapest set. The fact that they are junior-sized wasn't a problem for short me. These worked great for my 32.6 mile weekend hike!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for smaller adults If you are 4'10", you certainly don't need poles that can adjust for someone over 6' tall! I've tried these as both trekking and snowshoeing poles and they've worked great. Just know that there aren't rubber tips that fit these... although someone recommended to me that I go to my local hardware to find a tip that would fit. The tips are metal and I really have had no difficulty using them on a variety of terrains.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and price-worthy! Bought the poles a week ago and today was the first day I used them. I used them while climbing up from one of the Appalachian Trail sections and they just work great.

would these poles work for someone who was 5'4?  what is the suggested height range for these poles?

Asked by: kallie
The First Strike Junior Trekking Poles – Pair may work for someone 5' 4" in a pinch. Generally 110 cm is for someone up to 5' 2" or 5' 3".

What would you estimate is the shortest height someone could be and comfortably use these poles?

Asked by: AFKat
There is no minimum height for these poles. To set your trekking poles to the correct height, you need to adjust the length so when you hold the pole with the tip on the ground near your foot, your arm makes a 90-degree bend at the elbow.

It seems like BD does not have rubber tips for the First Strike trekking pole. Any recommendations for other rubber tips that will fit (i.e., REI rubber tip)?

Asked by: shycud87
Black Diamond does not have a compatible rubber tip for the First Strike Junior Trekking Poles. The other rubber tips we have available will also not fit.

What is the length when closed.  I would like to take hiking poles on a trip in the fall and need to fit them in a suitcase.
