Some design flaws
Good: Great water flow. Twist open/close is a nice touch. Bad: Bottle slipperiness. The bottle is tough to keep a hold on when you are sweaty and wet. I almost lost my bottles a couple times when grabbing it from the bottle cage. - psedo-solution: took medium sand paper and scratched the bottle near the "grips". Also, if you ride in dirt and or dust, the stuff can collect in the mouth opening. Probably not good for mountain biking.
Great bottle - love the no-drip, but can get moldy
Big fan of Camelbak. I've been buying their products for a while .Recently replaced a water bottle with their Podium product. Loved the simple design, the no-drip feature and the silicone "nipple"/valve. However. I live in Connecticut and it tends to get quite humid up here which probably doesn't help when it comes to keeping mold at bay. The valve will start to get moldy after a while; nothing crazy and probably only an issue if you're hyper-sensitive to mold, but a little displeasing. I've figured out how to take the valve to pieces to clean it, but I don't think that was designed into it as it was quite difficult. I would say this is the only! thing that lets this product down for me.
Disappointed in Insulation capability
I purchased two of the 24oz Podium and was surprised at how much smaller it was that the 25oz Podium bottles I currently use. Upon further inspection I noticed that the units I had before were the "big chill" and didn't realize how much less the Podium would keep my water chilled and iced down. The ice melted in a fraction of the time that it would last in the Big Chill models. I wanted black bottles and this was unfortunately the only choice I found available on Camelbak selection. New bike and needed new colors to match. I didn't realize there was a difference in Podium and Podium "big chill" until after getting these. Be sure to order the right one for your needs, especially in warm climates.
Good waterbottle for smaller bike frame
I have a relatively small bike frame and this fits right in the bottle holder. It's a bit noisy so avoid using this in the library or classroom, otherwise it'll do everything as advertised!
Perfect Cycling Bottle
Camelback makes the BEST cycling bottles...hands down. Great design that ensures a solid, positive grip while on the move -- which is essential.....no spills/leakage.
Great bottle, worth the extra cost
The no drip feature of CamelBak Podium bottles is excellent. The wider spout makes this version better than previous iterations of Podium bottles I've owned.
Woll Not Stay In Bottle Cage
This water bottle is great except for one thing. There's no groove around it where the top tab of a bottle cage should fit into to hold the bottle in the cage. As a result, the bottle works its way out of the cage when riding on rough roads. If you orient the indentations on the bottle with the bottle cage tabs it helps some, but who wants to do that every time they take a drink, especially when riding in a fast paceline. Don't the bottle designers at Camelbak know how a bottle cage works? If they fix this, I will give it 5 stars.
Bought this for my 6 y/o son...
He says, "I like the way it locks. I like the [red] color. Some water bottles are too hard to open but this one is easy. It's not too heavy or too big. It doesn't leak." It really has worked well for him. It is good about not leaking and he can use it at home or school without difficulty or mess.
Unexpected at first
It took me a few sips to get used to the way this bottle works, but now I'm extremely happy. No leaking/splashing even during a bumpy bike ride. Easy to drink, no need to mess with opening/closing the nozzle. Easy to place in the bottle holder.
cleaning
The top snaps off for easy cleaning? Hah! I bought four of these because it made sense to have an unspillable bottle. Yes, the cap does come off, but it has all sorts of nooks and crannies that make it very difficult to clean. In addition, the mechanism that closes the top get incredibly dirty, and you guessed it, it's difficult to clean. I bought the accessories because they were supposed to make it easier to clean. What a waste! I'm getting rid of the bottles and the accessories!
