You get what you pay for at this price
The sole/foot cushion part is made out of cheap rubber and foam. After just one walk around my park on the asphalt walkways, there was noticeable wear on the bottom treads. It continues peeling/getting worse with each walk on cement/concrete etc. At $50 these won't last a lifetime with regular use. They fit well, and the straps/velcro themselves are quality materials. I don't care for the somewhat abrasive pattern etched into the foam where your feet go - i guess it helps with grip but kind of feels like you are walking on soft sandpaper. All in all, you get what you pay for with these entry-level sandals. I'll be upgrading once these wear out
Will sand skin off your toes
The material they use is rough on skin and managed to chafe skin off both my big toes. This happened after a day walking in L.A. so no rough terrain was involved. Only terrible, careless craftsmanship. Thankfully my feet have been healing OK. but I do not recommend this for any hiking or walking more than a mile unless you have tough foot skin.
I've been waiting for this sandal to come back.
I had several pairs of the original Teva sandals and more then year round. I've bought newer expensive version of the then from Teva and while they were more advanced I missed the simple feel of the original and how light they were. The foot bed molds to your feet over time and become one with your foot. Thanks for bringing these sandals back. I'm tempted to get a second pair in case these go away again.
Straps different color from photo
Just a heads up that the color order of the straps on the Macaroon Multi are different from the photo. In actuality, back strap is pink, middle strap is grey and front strap is blue.
Poor quality and uncomfortable
I purchased these for lake and river days and to wear around camp on backpacking trips this summer. After only three trips and a handful of days on the water the straps are already falling apart. Not to mention the plastic triangle thing where the front strap connects to the back sits right on top of my pinky toe and hurts pretty bad. I thought I just had to "break them in", but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was pretty excited as Teva sandals had come highly recommended but I guess they are just not for me. If I wanted sandals that would fall apart after one summer I would have just gone to Walmart and grabbed a $5 or $10 pair and called it a day.
A SHOCKINGLY DECLINE IN QUALITY
Having owned TEVA sandals for decades, it was shocking to see the dramatic decline in the quality of the products. I purchased two TEVA sandals; each was flimsy and had a “cheap” feel. It is apparent that TEVA has gone the way of once quality driven brands which have lowered manufacturing standards to meet cost objectives, I have donated both pairs of sandals to a charity,
Good quality for the price
This will be my second pair now. I've used them extensively for kayaking and for rock hopping up rivers and streams. Besides just looking a little worn, the velcro still holds like new and I haven't had any structural issues with the straps or sole. Great value for the quality.
Minimalist Camp Sandle
The minimalist design saves weight. They are fairly comfortable. The straps don’t rub like my last pair did, but the toe of the sandals occasionally catches while walking. That’s a little disconcerting as it can cause you to stumble. This would be a good camp shoe, but maybe not a good hiker.
2 weeks in Costa Rica during rainy season
I almost didn't use the other pair of covered toes sandals at all. Almost entire time through the two weeks, both in rainy and sunny parts of Costa Rica, I wore this even on mountainous hikes (not recommended), just because the other pair was too tight. This doesn't really give ankle support, but if you're fit they're just so comfortable and you don't have to worry about soggy feet or socks. No pebbles stuck inside the shoe, or normal shoes never drying out (they won't in humid tropics). Warning though: these colors are way too bright even for me who love bright colors. Had to settle for the most subdued colorways.
They don't last
The problem with these sandals is that the adhesive/glue that secures the 'layers' of the sole together fails. I'm dealing with this for the second time (2 pairs) in two years.
