Rated 5 out of 5 by from DRY! I took this tent to Acadia Nat'l Park and got rained on in one way or another for 60 straight hours. At its worst, it poured rain for the entire first night, flooding our campsite. Waking up at sunrise to a 2 inch deep puddle around my tent was not pleasant (I moved to a drier location). But this tent kept everything inside it BONE DRY. I was shocked that a tent this lightweight could be so waterproof. And after a pounding like that on day 1, everything continued to stay dry despite more rain and more fog over 2 additional days. This tent was my oasis, and has made me an MSR convert for life. Spend the extra money on this tent and don't look back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product! The more seasoned peeps here can give you a long term review, so I'm going to give you the the shortest term review possible. I spent 1 hour talking with REI reps, 1 hour researching online and I knew this was the tent for me. As small and light as possible with the most amount of room and comfort for me and a guest once in a while. I purchased the tent and made sure everything was in the bag when I got home and the next day set it up in the woods in the dark in 5 minutes first time. Impressive. I tore it down in about 10 minutes two mornings later and easily put it back into its bag just as small and tight as it was when I got it. Love it, can't wait to spend more time in it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handles High Winds Just got back from a week of backpacking in Torres del Paines Patagonia Chile. This tent was awesome. We had 105 Km/Hr winds one night with heavy rain. Not only did the tent withstand the wind but kept us dry. The ability to set up or tear down the tent under the rain fly was the main reason I bought this tent and that really came in handy on this trip. Worked just as I had expected and kept the tent dry even though we never had a dry day. It was chilly at night (30-35 degrees) and we were cold in the morning. I didn't buy this tent to keep us warm as much as to keep us dry and not to fly away

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection This is the perfect tent. I spent s lot of time looking into other tents comparing, but for the weight and floor space this is the real deal. The best part is the attention to the tiny details. Even the stuff sack is perfect. I've had a lot of tents in the past, but this is the clear winner from the moment you begging setting it up. I really like the integrated tie downs and end grommets for the tent poles. In older tents I've had, this is an area that starts to wear down quickly and I love the extra durability and simplicity. I also love how the doors don't touch the ground when they are fully open. And it looks good people, how much more can you ask for!?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Current Fly has Guy Points I just received this tent and have only set it up in the yard to check it out, but I wanted to comment on what seems to be a design update. One of the few negative reviews here relates to having to use the end vent loop as a guy point, and the seeming lack of guy points was a concern to me. Online photos do not show any. There are now four dedicated guy points on the fly with adjustable guy lines already attached. They are at the end pole hubs and the ends of the cross bar. I was impressed by the seeming stability without using the guys but I'm happy to see they have been added.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Customer Service and Warranty Issues. I have only used this tent a couple of times now, but had the model before it as well. Great little tent for backpacking. I barely notice the weight :) I am a little more careful with this one though, because it is so lightweight. These guys are SUPER to deal with for warranty issues etc.....Had an old MSR Fling, that the material had started to breakdown (older material with no UV protection), after years of use. They gave me a new tent (anything in the same price range) for the old one. I also have the Gear Shed for it as well, gives it a lot more room. Will always deal with these guys from now on, they have made me a happy customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A wonderful tent but with a small flaw This tent has taken me through thick and thin and I love it dearly. The size and the weight are perfect for all of my adventures, I have never been wet, and I have never had a tear. Unfortunately it seems the little silver metal pieces that are screwed into the O where the poles attach are stripping and falling out, rendering my darling Hubba Hubba useless. Unfortunately I am cycling in East Africa and truly was dependent on the full support of Hubba when it chose to fail me. If only there were a fix I would recommend this tent to everyone including my mother and grandfather and baby cousin's sister.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MSR Hubba Hubba NX I must say this tent is a nice upgrade to MSR's previous model of the Hubba Hubba. Simplicity in setup was very important to me and this tent proves that. From the one pole hub design to the color coded rain fly attachments, setting up a tent doesn't get much easier. There is just enough room to fit two sleeping bags. Plenty of ventilation and love the side zipper on both entry systems. Very light and extremely easy to pack up. My only complaint is that the included 6 MSR mini-groundhog stakes did not come with the attached pull cords. This makes pulling them out of the ground very difficult. The stakes show pull cords on the REI website? Overall a great purchase and props to REI for getting this product out before anyone else.

Questions & Answers

Have they resolved the issue of the rain fly becoming sticky and gummy when stored? I have the prior model of hubba hubba and store it loose and dry in climate controlled environment and the rain fly has become a sticky mess. This problem fairly common.

Asked by: John
I had the same issue with the main tent body but not with the rain fly. The tape/sealant along the seams began to flake and the adhesive became sticky, basically ruining the tent. The good news is that MSR replaced the tent body at no cost. The customer service was excellent.

What is a hubbed poleset?

Asked by: bbran
A hubbed poleset is when the poles are permanently attached to each other. In the case of this tent, the brow pole is attached to the ridge pole via a rotating joint, or the hub.

I've heard good things but have one concern...It seems that the only way to guy out the tent is to attach the lines to the two vents. It looks like the vents can't be closed when the tent is guyed out for wind. What do you do in a cold windy night?

Asked by: makmak
The main guypoints are at the pole intersection above the vent, not shown in the images. The vent has one hook and loop tab at the center and cannot be completely sealed. There are also guyout points at the top of the doors also not shown in the images.

does the fly come right down to the ground?

Asked by: woody
The rainfly on this tent does not go all the way to the ground. Depending on location, the rainfly will sit a couple of inches off of the ground.

Are both loops at each corner of the tent (8 total) supposed to be stacked down? if so there are not enough stakes for the guy lines on the rain fly. 2.Beneath the guy lines are one or two loops? should the guy line run through these?

Asked by: david m
The additional loops on the tent are designed for securing guy lines when you are in stormy conditions. The stakes and guy lines that come included with the tent are for minimal set-up for the tent to be habitable. The loops that are under the attached guy lines are for more guy lines to be attached to the tent to secure during an alpine storm.
