Does not fit properly under tent
I bought this 1 month ago. Took it for a week long camping trip to Tomahawk Scout Camp. Some pretty bad rain that week. Footprint is 9" shorter on the width and 5" shorter on the length than the tent. None of the hooks can reach the poles. If you try to stake the sides down, the stakes poke into the bottom of the tent. Center of tent stayed dry. Outlying 9" were wet because the footprint is the WRONG SIZE! Even advertised as wrong size. Basecamp 6 tent has a floor footprint of 100" x 125" - footprint is 91" x 120". If you stay in the center of the tent, you are fine. This is obviously defective. I will go back to my tarp that has served me well for the last 2 years.
Colored straps don't match
We bought this to go with our Base Camp 6 tent, which we loved our first year camping. First time we went to use it, following the directions, the colored straps did not line up with the tent. It said, orange went with orange, black with black. When we did that, it was like the foot print was made backwards. We finally decided to just turn it how it made the most sense. Doing that, the footprint works fine, but it is not how the directions tell you to do it. Not sure if the straps were sewn in the wrong spot by the factory? Also, turning it this way, there are two extra black strap in the center and back that don't hook to anything. This was the first time I didn't "check" my camping gear and try it before I took it out. I'm wondering if this is the same issue "ScoutLeader" had.
Works exactly like you'd expect
Never bought a proper footprint before and felt that it was 'cheating' instead of just buying a cheaper tarp to either fold or cut and use. Have to admit I like the splurge. Totally work a couple extra $$ to have the groundsheet stay put and be perfectly size and placed. Initially I felt like it was a little 'loose' but it never affected performance.
Must have
A great companion to the Base Camp 6. Well made and durable. Though expensive compared to a plastic sheet, I look at it as an investment to protect my tent for many years. Also lightweight and packs small.
Footprint - Don't use a tent without one.
We bought this to go with the Base Camp 6 tent (excellent tent, BTW). It is well constructed & does its job, protecting the floor of the tent.
Nice footprint
Works very well with my Base camp 6 tent and keeps it safe
