Game Changer
The Laser Speed Light is the revolution in ice climbing protection. These ice screws are the best out there. They're extremely efficient to place in any kind of ice, super light weight and straight up cool looking. People always ask me if the clipping point is wide enough to clip more than one carabiner and the answers is YES! You can feed three of them if you need to. I do that while making my anchor, staying protected or right before living the anchor if I need to protect my system from a factor 2 fall. With the color code trigger is very easy to know what size you are grabbing and they rack really well. My fav screws for sure!!
Simply the Best!
These ice screws from Petzl are THE CATS MEOW! They are so much lighter than anything else on the market! They are also the sharpest. They will cut you and your gear if you're not careful. They are as sharp as a razor blade on the ends, so be careful. They start quicker, a ndgo into the ice so easily, it is a game changer. Your calves don't get as tired standing on your front points, because you move faster. Speed is safety in ice climbing. Get on that ice, do the climb, and get off of it.
Amazing for so many reasons!
I teach alpine climbing courses and guide through out the world and after using these screws in Peru this past season, I'm 100% convinced that this is the best screw around! The reduced weight is very noticeable, especially if you're carrying bunch of them or climbing at high altitude. The best weight savings definitely comes from the bigger ones- the 17cm & 21cm, I'd recommend those. The new hanger that Petzl is using on this screw and the regular Laser Speed is creating many converts of folks that have been faithful to other brands for years- and for good reason. The new hanger allows you to drive the screw in to the hilt without having to chop away ice to make room for it. That's a huge time savings with every screw placement. I was afraid the aluminum would get nicked up in the mixed terrain and not turn as easily...hasn't been the case yet.
Incredible Weight Savings
These screws are so light that the alpine and ice rack are noticeable lighter weight, which is essential on long alpine routes. They are incredible easy to place and remove. And they have held up well after a season of use. If you want to upgrade your rack, these are the screws to get especially in the longer lengths!
