Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hiking Pants ever! I believe that these pants are worthy of a review. I am 5'1 and about 117 lbs and wear a size 2. The 29'' inseam was a perfect length and the pants are very flattering. I took them on a camping trip to the Shenandoah National Park this past weekend and I must say that these pants performed admirably. We hiked about 6 miles on the AT before the kids had reached their limit and I was able to charge some pretty steep trails to without any restriction from these pants. We were caught in summer rain storm and I stayed dry thanks to these pants. They kept me dry and breathed well despite the humidity and climbing temperatures. I highly recommend these pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from down right awesome These pants rock. I wore them nearly every day for four months across South America. During one trekking stint there, I wore them 8 days straight, and didn't wash them for two weeks! They were awesome every second. I now own two pairs, my mom owns three, and my sister has a pair too. We all love them. Now I use them to bike to work. The quick roll-up leg is great for transitioning from bike to work. They are great looking (professional enough for work) and very comfortable and stretchy (my go-to for hiking). The internal waist tie is helpful if you happen to slim down a bit, or after days and days of wear that can lend a bit to stretchout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost 6'2" and they're long enough!! I'm almost 6'2" and a size 4. It's nearly impossible to find outdoor gear that go past my ankles or wrists. I needed a durable pair of outdoor pants for climbing, hiking, goofing around in the snow (not for snow sports), etc. The first time I put these on I was amazed! They were long enough that they even crinkled a bit on the floor, just how I like them! Great stretch and durability. Go prAna!! Now we need more outdoor gear for tall chicks! Contrary to what other brands think, a 32" inseam is NOT tall!! I'm a 35" and so far prAna is the only brand that makes a true "tall" pant, and I've searched!!! North Face & Burton are a close second but not quite long enough.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pocket stitching fails I love Prana pants and have always worn them for climbing. Generally, they incredibly long despite the abuse. The decorate stitching on the backside of the Halle Prana pants, is delicate, and as it turns out, not purely decorative. On the center of the backside, right where my backside touches the ground when I sit down, the stitching abraded off. This stitching is what closes the pocket on the inside and now both of my pockets had holes so that stuff inside of the pockets could fall out into the inside of my pants. Very disappointed as sitting on rocks is what I consider "normal use" for Prana pants. This failure happened in the first six months of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will buy another pair soon. I wore my pants yesterday for the first time. I don't know if my rating will be different after couple of uses, but today I am rating based on my first experience. They are really comfortable and flattering. I am 5'4'' and the length was perfect for me with my hiking boots. It is also difficult for me to find a pant that fits my figure well (curvy) and these were perfect, so I recommend them to anyone with an hourglass/pear body type. I am normally a size 10 and it was true to the size. They dry really fast and give me freedom to move. I wish they came in more colors, but other than that they are perfect for me. I love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite pants for travel and hiking I've reached for these a lot of days early this spring, to wear around town, for long drives, for hikes in the cool of dusk. One thing to note: I usually wear a 6 in Prana pants, but in these pants in the green, I took a 4, making them more fitted, less loose and much more attractive. But in the grey, the 4 was too tight, and the 6 was too baggy for my tastes. Variation in fit from color to color and maybe even pair to pair may be an issue. Buying in the store was a good idea with these. The legs are just right too, not too tight, not too loose, unlike some past Prana pants that I've found have too full a leg for me. They're the most flattering, curve-hugging synthetic pants I've found.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect pants! Inconsistent sizing These pants are wonderful- I bought two pairs of them last year to wear while traveling for 2 months. The pants are great for hiking or lounging. Very comfortable and flattering. Be sure to try them on in the store, for whatever reason (maybe they've fixed it since I bought my pants) the pants run in different sizes- I wear a size 6 in the grey and a size 4 in the green. Pants are breathable, seem stain-resistant, were water resistant when I bought them, but after 14 months they could be waterproofed again. All snaps are still intact, have held up well against scrambling and hiking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy These were a gift but I picked them out :) I'm stocking up on new hiking pants for travel and local excursions and these are perfect. Super comfortable and I really like that they can convert into long shorts. These pants are flattering and versatile enough to be worn out and about for casual day pants. Mine are grey which is a nice, versatile color. I am 5'8, about 140lbs and got a size 6/regular length. The length is perfect with my hiking boots. Note: I tried on the prAna monarch pants and the size 6/regular length was a bit too snug in the waist and a touch too short. They must be a different cut? It is unfortunate the prAna sizing is not consistent. Oh well....these Halle pants are great.

Questions & Answers

I’m only 5’2 and have short legs. Pants are always way too long for me. Are those good for petit people like me?

Asked by: Korina
I'm 5'2'', 100 lbs, and the size 2 short fits well with hiking boots. They are still too long :-), I would need a 28'' inseam to hit my ankle straight on, but they fit so well otherwise, I still consider them a good petite find.

Are these pants light and breathable enough for hot and humid weather?

Asked by: rud44
These pants are made with 97% Nylon and 3% Spandex, this material blend is light weight and very breathable. The option for rolling these pants up into capris make them a good choice for fluctuating temperatures and allows for more air flow in hot and humid weather.

Is the rise on the Short version (size 12) proportionately shorter as well? Regular length not only too long but also bunched up badly in crotch area.

Asked by: NC Linda
The rise changes between waist sizes, but it does not change if you choose the same waist size in a different inseam length.

I purchase these past several years ago and just bought a pair same size and length and the pants I received were too small and too short. What happened. I have my old pair and ordered what I already have.

Asked by: donnergirl
We are not aware of any specific changes to this pant. According to the vendor, due the long history of this particular garment, small manufacturing changes are to be expected along with normal size variances.

Some of the reviewers talk about a drawstring at the waist but I don't see any mention of it in the description.  Do the Halle pants have a drawstring?

Asked by: Lynn in TN
Yes, the Halle Pants will have an internal waist band draw string for added adjustability.
