Years ago I purchased this hiking shoe based on looks alone. what was supposed to be used on short hikes in the woods turned out to be way more. I have literally circled the globe with just these shoes alone. From the Inca trail in Peru, Glaciers in Iceland to the bar with my friends, these shoes can and will handle anything you throw at them. These are perfect for any type of travel not only because you can climb a mountain in them but because they look like a normal sneaker (in all black) eliminating the need for multiple types of shoes in your pack. These shoes will not disappoint.
These are the best shoes I've ever worn. I bought a pair of them about two and a half years ago and have loved them ever since. They are still as waterproof as the day I got them, despite having been used almost every day. I've worn them on three continents (including in the Amazon rain forest), through hundreds of hours of standing on hard, tile floors at work, and countless walks across campus. I'm going to get another pair of them because I literally wore the entire sole of the shoe out, but that doesn't mean they aren't durable. From my pictures you can see that they're pretty beat up, but that should just go to show that I've put them through their paces. I can not recommend them enough.
Can't speak to their capabilities as a long distance hiking /trail running shoe, but they offer everything I look for in a disc golf shoe. They are durable - tread is still great after almost a year of use playing disc golf (navigating trails, long walks, pivoting on cement tee boxes, toe drag, etc). Lacing system stays in place, GoreTex still good. They offer great support and are comfortable. They do run a bit narrow as others have stated, but I have narrow feet, so I can't say that's a negative. A bit stiff at first, but after a couple weeks, they broke in to be more flexible. Still as comfortable as the first day.
The Terrex Swift R GTX are comfortable, versatile, stylish, rugged, and sturdy. I live in Boulder, CO and shred gnarly mountain trails 2-3x/week. Been enjoying these shoes for the past 6 months, and still love them. Excellent traction for charging uphill on rock, dirt, sand, mud - and extra stability for downhills. The US size 10 fits just as expected, no problem. The lacing system is very helpful: makes it really easy to adjust tightness for different circumstances. I'll never again wear athletic shoes with standard laces - once you've run in these, there's no going back. Like having a lightweight, comfy suit of armor for your feet.
The product did the job. Looked good and was waterproof for walking the dog on wet grass. However after less than 70 days of light use the seams started to come away. Thus had to return them. Tempted to risk buying another as they were so suited to the job but it is hassle and cant be sure quality issue wont reoccur.
Quality very poor - heel loop and bungee stitching failed after 3 months and heel and base of shoe have come unglued too!
This is a great looking comfortable shoe. The bungee lace allows for quick on and off with excellent fit. I have used these shoes to stand up all day at work, out on trails, etc. They have outperformed any shoe I have ever owned. The gore-tex has kept my feet dry through rain, puddles, and snow. The traction provided by the soles is by far above and beyond any other shoe I have used. The only downside I could think of is the black heating up in the summer sun. However, the upside to the color is making them stylish/low-profile enough to wear as a business-casual shoe.
Needed a pair of shoes to wear around town as well as the trail. I rarely purchase an item that is strictly a one purpose item. So finding these at my local REI was a pleasant surprise. The unexpected part was Adidas name on the shoe. They have a snug but not uncomfortable fit, great for climbing steep grades and not having your shoes sliding so much on your feet that you develop sores. I do like the cable lace system easy and quick on and off. I don't have any complaints as of yet, and the only reason I am not giving 5 stars is the fact I have not had them on in 90+ degree heat full sun beating down, so I don't yet know how hot they will be.
Fit. Perfect for my type of foot. Narrow in the back, wide mid and tapered toes. Those that say its narrow aren't explaining this shoe properly. Asolo Fugitives are narrow, these are much different. Perfect for long sloping rock slab descents as the toe box holds perfectly without ever letting you hit the front. The support is unreal in a below the ankle hiking shoe. I use these as a light hiker and rock scrambler up to 20 miles or so. The traction on rocks and especially downhills is something you should experience if these fit you....far beyond that of most hiking shoes/boots. I wouldn't say they're something a beginner or light day hiker would need or even appreciate. If your the type who likes Merrill's than I wouldn't think you are looking for what these offer. The bottoms are fairly rigid and not suited for jogging or walking around in a non hiking environment. They're too stiff for leisure activity but almost brilliant as a fast hiker when there is a lot of elevation gain/loss. Perfectly waterproof for quick jaunts in mud or streams. The tread lasts much longer than you would think considering the remarkable traction. To me these represent the maximum support possible in a lightweight shoe. The tradeoff is absolute cushy comfort like a Merrill.
Received my second order today, 2 days before the estimated delivery time! Size 9, real size! No need to order half size larger. Incredible comfort! Great material! I am really satisfied with that! Will definitely buy another colour!
