What a difference a shoe lace can make!
These laces have converted normal old chukka boots into ninja kicking, Chuck Norris round-housing hikers. I feel like I fly up the mountain now. Women want me, moose fear me, and Bear Gryllis asks for my autograph. Do yourself a favor and get some of these laces!

sucks right out of the "box"
I was skeptical when I bought them, and I should have listened to my gut. The ends are shrink wrap, basically the same used for electrical wiring. It says to hold a flame for 5-7 seconds, and that is too long for that. The shrink wrap doesn't shrink small and tightly enough to: A. Easily lace your shoes, especially if you have tight holes B. For the shrink wrap to even stay on the lace Stay away from this, especially if you need strong shoelace tips to lace your shoes. Nothing replaces good old shoe laces.

These work great, just use a little commonsense

It's kind of funny that some people don't understand something pretty simple, such as these laces. Yes, they are one long shoe lace. LONG. There is enough there to lace up two boots (which is why they come with FOUR tips). Cut the lace in half. Thread each half through you each boot. Tie them while wearing the boot, trim the excess, put the tips on and heat the tips. I heat the end of the lace to get it to melt to a point, then heat the heat shrink tubing (heat it well) and you're done. This is better than having to different size laces for different boots, and as a piece of essential survival gear, this also doubles as multi-use cord. These laces are as tough as anything else you can buy.

Work Very Well, Custom Fit To Your Boot

Very easy to customize to any boot. Just measure the proper length (hopefully using old laces), cut, apply match to heat-shrink tubing, and thread through eyelets. The only problem I had was that one set of eyelets was very small, and the heat-shrunk tips couldn't get through them. Luckily, they still work fine, as the problem eyelets were at the top of the boot, just before the open-jaw eyelets common on most hiking boots.

Good Idea - not for all applications

I initially chose this product because I couldn't remember what length I needed. Next time I would wait until I were certain of my desired length. The purchaser may select the optimum length and use the shrink tubing to make a passable new tip. This is nice if you want to minimize lace length. The shrink tubing tips may be too large for boots that use holes, and can still be tedious for small loops. If the purchased has an application such as this, consider conventional laces or something of a smaller diameter that is less pliable.

won't fit through eyelets on some boots

These laces work fine on my older boots. But they won't go through the eyelets of my new Lowas.

Worked great for four months before they failed

Bought these for my husband's Redwing work boots to replace the laces that came with the boots. I still recommend them because they're long, and they performed similar to the original laces that came with the boots. Only one of the laces failed so far. Not going to wait for the other to go before replacing. Until I find a longer lasting option, this is a good option, if don't have to pay for shipping on top of price for laces.

Caveat Emptor

Buyer Beware - The lace stretches tight to 144 inches, but really measures 138. Consider that when cutting to length. Also, ensure all 4 lace ends are visible on the packaged product. The lace I purchased came with 3, my bad for not checking. All in all though it is a decent product.

Simple and easy

Not much to say about these. Cut them too length, shrink the tubing over the ends/melt the ends, and you're set. Worked for my Vasque St. Elias GT boots. Was the closest lace color at REI that matched my boots as well.

I may have not heated these up enough, but the rubber ends came off and got lost within a week. I would buy these and try again, as I was otherwise pleased with the purchase.
