Best bike pack I have found
This is my go-to pack for bicycle commuting to my office. In a previous review about a messenger bag, I wrote that it is great, but not great for bike commuting. This one is perfect. In addition to securely holding my laptop and tablet, it keeps my keys accessible and allows me to pack a small camera, ear buds, and extra clothing, as necessary. It has a nice feature for holding a u-lock securely, as well. It is durable, reasonably light weight, has a waterproof cover, and lots of organization pockets. I can usually find something I don't like about a bag (I have way too many for that reason). However, I don't know how this one could be improved!
Commuting With Less Back Sweat
I bought the Osprey Momentum 30 Bike Pack because of the mesh area against my back. I ride 3.5 miles to work as much as I can and can't stand being overly sweaty in my work clothes. With the mesh back raising the pack off my back a bit, it allows some air to flow over my body. A second feature I love is the loop at the bottom of the bag to attach a bike light. I keep a flashing light there along with the flashing light on my bike to make myself more visible. The third thing I like is that it has a padded pocket for my tablet and a rain cover. Although I don't ride much in the rain, it is nice to know that if a popup shower shows up on my ride home, my tech items will be protected.
Very nice backpack for commute & outdoor
I bought this when I traveled to SF, CA. It's a great backpack, not just for biking. I use it for commute and 1-day hiking, it is very robust and I can always trust it, which I think is the most important thing for a backpack. It provides many storage, so I can categorize my stuff. There's a inter-layer for laptop, very handy. And it provides flexibility for stretch, you can control the size by loosing or tightening some belt on it. And it's pretty comfortable for my shoulders. The only regret is, when I back to Beijing, I found the zipper slider of rain covers is missed, not sure if it's lost on the way or in the store, I didn't check the bag carefully when I bought it.
Comfortable and spacious; details could improve
I like this bag very much. The pack is handsome, comfortable, and spacious. The laptop and tablet sleeves are very convenient, and I really like the file folder compartment -- my papers used to take a beating on my commute. The pack has good water resistance even without the rain cover. The compression straps keep the pack as compact as the fill allows and prevent jostling -- good for running or for stowing the pack. The lower-front side pockets are a good size for stowing small items such as bike gloves or a compact umbrella, but the compression straps get in the way of the zippers making them a bit of nuisance to open and close. They can be left open to store a water bottle outside the pack using the lower compression strap to keep the bottle from slipping out. On the small top-front accessory pocket, the zipper canopy geometry make opening and closing that compartment a little more clumsy and labor intensive than is pleasant. Also, that pocket should be deeper. This is a bike-commuter-oriented bag. That pocket should be perfect for stowing glasses and has organizer pockets of the right width. However the depth is just a little short of what is needed to store wrap-around biking sunglasses in a case without interfering with the zipper to close the compartment. The small pocket on the shoulder strap is the only one accessible without removing the strap. It would have been nice if it were large enough to hold a smartphone (my relatively small 4.5 inch screen phone doesn't fit). My final quibble is that the straps could use a way to keep the excess length contained without flapping. Other than the modest design flaws, I like the pack.
Great Commuting Pack
This is a great pack for cycling to work. The backpack is good for general use as a bag when not on a bike and then excels as a bike bag. There is ample room for my computer and work materials and then for all the shoes and clothes and my lock and such. It is very comfortable on rides and easy to adjust. It just has everything that I could reasonably want (I would like a spot for hydration but since that would be against my computer it is unreasonable).
This backpack is the best
I have owned cheap backpacks and now I know what the saying " you get what you pay for " really means. This was the best move on a backpack I've ever made. It will last me forever. I use it daily and even when I traveled recently. Love all the pockets. I'm a happy camper......
Great commuting pack
I was looking for a commuter pack for back and forth to work that had enough pockets to keep everything organized and after much scrutiny I decided this was the one. My research paid off this is an excellent pack, extremely well made with a great feature set. Highly recommended.
Great commuting bag
Overall I love this pack. The helmet keeper turned out to be less useful than I hoped because the helmet ends up blocking most of the pockets. I wish it was located lower on the pack. However, the other features more than make up for it, especially the rain cover, retractable key chain, quick stash pocket on the back, and good laptop protection with additional separated space for a notebook or ereader. The compression straps help keep the pack small so it's easier to see over your shoulder if/when checking traffic. The pack is comfortable and has held up well after several months of daily use.
Great Idea!
I commute to work on my bicycle three or four days a week and this pack is designed exactly for that, so I bought it. There are a lot of great ideas crammed into this little pack, which in the end, limited the usefulness for me. There were too many pockets and straps which didn't help to organize bulky items, like a change of clothes. It would be a fabulous pack for someone who is carrying a jacket, lunch, computer, and a few other items. This is a great pack! I liked the helmet and lock holder. It has a lot of great places to put stuff, it's just too complex for me... I'm a simple guy.
Defective zipper...see image attached
One of the primary zippers seems to have a defect. The plastic coating on the outside edge of the zipper failed and has became discolored and worn. The back has had light use but because of this defect it appears worn.
