Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my mat I have been using my prAna ECO yoga mat for about a month now and I would certainly recommend it. I went looking for a new mat after the one I had been using was starting to disintegrate and get all around kind of disgusting, ew. I shopped around online, reading reviews, but you really don't know if it's what you want until you touch it so I ran over to REI and picked this one up. I do not have any slipping issues and I never really noticed an unpleasant rubber odor or anything like that. My previous mats were the standard Gaiam mats you can get just about anywhere so this one was my first purchase in a higher price bracket. Overall very pleased!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not happy I do yoga twice a week and loved this mat for about 6 yoga sessions - it provides a good amount of cushion for bony knees and elbows, top of head, etc., and it really was sticky. But since then I've noticed two problems 1) Little tears have been slowly appearing all over the mat - since it never gets exposed to sharp things, I assume this is normal wear and tear, which absolutely should not be happening after only 1.5 months of use. 2) As soon as my hands become the slightest bit sweaty, I start to slip. I can't hold a down dog/mountain pose for 2 seconds without my hands begining to slide away, totally destablizing me and causing a lot of frustration. This one is going back :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sorry, but it's going back. I was hoping I would really like this mat but unfortunately it will have to go back. This is my first upgrade since buying $15-20 mats from discount stores. I'm disappointed that it doesn't give me the grip I wanted as slipping is the reason I wanted to upgrade. I've used it maybe a dozen times and it seems to get more slippery with each use. It's very lightweight, pretty color (blues), but it won't lie flat when unrolled and is at least as slippery as my previous cheapie mat. It does provide plenty of cushioning and is longer than most mats which is important to me as I hate to be hanging off the end of my mat. I'm glad I bought it from REI so I can exchange with no hassle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty Poor Mat I thought I would like this mat because it seemed thick and grippy in the store. It's very thick which is great, but it's not at all grippy. If I'm even remotely sweaty, I slip all over the place- high plank to down dog is basically impossible without significant hand adjustments on this mat. I'm not having any wear and tear issues and I've been using it for about a year, but I just ordered another mat from a different brand and I can't wait for it to get here. This mat is sort of terrible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for hot yoga/ Bikram As a regular practitioner of Bikram/ hot yoga (5-6 days a week), I found that the Prana ECO mat holds my towel quite well. No slipping and sliding when you use this with one of the towels offered through REI (I recommend Jade Brand). Because I sweat a ton in hot yoga, I also feel much more comfortable knowing that this mat contains no chemicals or carcinogens that may seep into my skin while my pores are open or during the floor series. Also, I live in NYC and for me, to carry this 2 pound mat all over the subway, up and down countless flights of stairs, etc. is a heaven-sent on my shoulders and back. Many other yoga mats weigh up to 7 pounds! I couldn't imagine keeping that weight on my shoulder for prolonged periods of time. And just because it's lightweight, doesn't mean it's one of those shabby, cushion-less mats from Kulae. This actually provides support when you are on your knees or on the floor. Other reviewers mention their mat falling apart. Despite my regular practice, I've had no such problem. My only reason for replacing the mat: after a year of using the mat regularly for hot yoga, it was time for a new one (if you know what I mean). An added bonus: the colors are very cute! I broke free of the NYC stereotype of wearing black all of the time and got the blue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slippery! This mat seems soft and non-slip, but I did not like it at all. It's great for floor/back poses, but I slip around too much in this and I need to return it back. For reference, I barely sweat, and I slip around at the beginning of my unheated classes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from mat wears out easily I bought this mat about a year ago, and used it during a really hot summer. It started to wear around the feet area after about six months of use--pulling up and making little mat-material pills. I swapped sides, and now it's doing the same thing on the other side, which means that I am headed toward a giant hole where my feet land at the back of my mat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good mat at a good price I bought this mat a few weeks ago when I was going to replace my Hugger Mugger mat with the Earth Elements one I had a few years ago, and Hugger Mugger wasn't sticky enough. So I got this Prana mat and it's light, sticky, and reasonably priced at around $50. I still think Manduka and Jade are the best but they'll cost in the $80-120 range rather than $40-50. So this mat is a good deal.
