This bag has been well used by my 11 year old son. Grandma gave our 2 boys each a bag over 5 years ago. My 11 year old has used this bag at home, on trips, camping, canoeing, in the car, etc. He frequently wets the bed, and we've washed this bag 200+ times(approx 75% in a front loader). 5 years= 260 weeks & we've washed it at least once a week, (although in the beginning, we didn't let him use it all the time, but that didn't last long). 200+ times EASY. The bag isn't coming apart, zippers still work, insulation is a little matted down, but not bad, it doesn't look as good as the other bag we have,(which looks almost brand new), but that's to be expected. It is still perfectly usable, and I am sure we will be able to hand it down to the cousins as he is almost grown out of this one. I will without a doubt be purchasing another REI bag for the boys, and have since updated mine and my wifes bags with REI's. Fantastic sleeping bag. GREAT job REI!

huge disappointment compared to older model

I bought a Kindercone 2 years ago that is a wonderful, soft warm bag with quallofill filling, and a nice, non-slippery liner. Last week I bought the current model for another child, and was very disappointed. It's larger, packs much larger, heavier, clunky, and with the exception of the slick and slippery lining fabric, has the feel of a Coleman sleeping bag. I really hope they change back to the earlier model.

Great Kids Bag

I bought this for my son to prepare for a church camp trip. For the month before the trip is was repeatedly test-driven, not only as a sleeping bag, but as a jumping bag & a generally great toy. No rips, no tears over some pretty rough usage. On the trip itself we were in an unheated, uninsulated cabin. It was probably the low 40s inside, at best. My son stayed nice and warm the whole night. We haven't gone tent-camping yet, but with the durability & warmth I've seen out of it, I have no qualms about saying the bag will excel there as well.

Big boy sleeping bag FTW!

My three year old needed a new bag since we were going car camping on a weekend that dipped to 30-40 at night. He's gone car camping before but had a bag from target made for 50 degree weather. I had read other reviews about this bag and thought we'd try it out at the store. I loved that you can cinch it up and close off the cold air gap since he's little now. It took us a little while to figure out how to do that since we were looking for adjustable straps of some sort based on the description "grows with them". He of course loved the bag and I loved that he was super cozy. And what mom doesn't like something that their kid can use and grow into ;) ?

Fantastic Bag!

We purchased this sleeping bag for my daughter who is quite young. We recently gave it a really good run for it's money. My daughter is only 23 months old and we went camping in Michigan in October. The overnight low 2 out of the 3 nights we were camping was a damp 36 degrees. I was really concerned about taking her tent camping at such a young age with such low predicted temperatures...but fear not...she was snug as a bug in a rug. I did have her sleep in a hat both nights because of her age I was concerned with snugging down the hood. She slept so well that one of the nights she rolled right off her her bed onto the floor of the tent and never even woke up when she fell. She loves her sleeping bag and I also love it knowing that she is warm. Thank you for making a great product!

Solid, Not for Expeditions

Each of our three kids (4,8,9) has a Kindercone of his/her own. All of them were pleased with the styling of their respective bags, and all like the pockets and hood design. In late fall camping, the 8- and 9-year old were comfortable in these bags, wearing thermals and wool socks, down to 34 degrees. This is not the lightest bag, nor does it compress down small, especially with the stuff sack provided. What it does do is provide a good compromise/combination of design, comfort, insulation, and price.

High Quality and Look Great!

My kids love their sleeping bags! We live in Canada and these should suit their camping needs until they are in high school. My requirements for a sleeping bag were: - no characters or prints that will become uncool in a few years - rated to 0 Celsius or lower - big enough to last until they are at least 12 These bags had the added bonus of being affordable, height adjustable (although it will have to be pretty cold for me to bother doing that), and super cute. I will likely buy these as Christmas gifts for my nieces and nephews. The only thing I don't love is the feel of the inside fabric. It is very soft but it is a more slippery/shiny fabric than I would like. I'm sure the fabric was selected with good reason but it doesn't feel as cozy as some fabrics. Note: I am 5'8" and I could sleep in the bag if I really had to. It is definitely not too small for taller children.

Not great for backpacking

My wife and I bought this for our 5 yr old daughter as a cheap option to expose her to backpacking. The previous year we purchased the lumen for my 6yr old son, which is a great bag. The kindercone, however, is a large, bulky mess. This bag doesn't come with the laundry sack that most REI bags have and the stuff sack is integrated. It stuffs down to the size of two basketballs. We threw it in a compression sack and got it down to the size of one basketball. The quality is great. The fabric is really durable and the inside is silky and includes an pocket to stuff a travel pillow or clothes. It would be a great bag for summer camp or car camping. If you're looking for something compressible you'll have to spend some extra cash.

Slight Differences Between Colors

My 4 year old twins just opened their new bags, so I cannot attest to their use or durability. However, if it matters to you, the vibrant pink has a flap inside the hood to use as a pillow pocket, and the blue one does not. However, the blue one does have a small loop sewed to the top of the mummy, presumably to hang and dry. I'm a little disappointed that they don't pack down very well, since the website states the best use is for backpacking...we'll see if we love them...or if it's just another parent purchase that isn't as great as it could be

great sleeping bag

love the color combo, and it's long enough to grow with kids. my child is almost 2 and she used it last weekend when we went to Big Basin. night time temp was around 50F, and she stayed warm, although i did dress her in 3 layers. the hood and drawstring really helped to prevent her from sliding out of the bag from twisting & turning. i didn't use it the first night, and her body was half out of the bag in the middle of the night. the 2nd night, i made sure her head was inside the hood & i tightened the drawstring as well. she stayed in the whole night, but she did make noise at night as she's not used to her arms restricted. i do wish the zipper isn't as easy to pull down as she somehow pulled it open during the night, but the drawstring held up ok. i will be buying another one for our other child!
